The author has clearly poured his many years as an artist into this book. It’s packed full of insight and takes the reader on a journey about what the role of an art director is all about. The art that support the text is just awe inspiring and he lists the artists involved at the end of the book. It’s a must have book for those not just looking to become an art director, but for all artists to understand the bigger picture.

Even as a student this book is incredibly helpful. The approach to direction and the discussion of different paths an art career may take is really encouraging and offers insight beyond what you’ll get in a classroom or a video online.
The book is beautifully laid out and made of nice quality materials. I would absolutely reccommend this to anyone even remotely interested in the subject.

Superbly written with easy to digest information using understandable language that makes reading a real pleasure. If you’re already in the business, then there’s lots of little tips, tricks and techniques that help to calibrate and augment your approach to direction. If you’re not in the business, but are interested in the visual arts of game development and movies then you’ll get a thorough overview and understanding of the process- and what it takes to take a seed of an idea and explore, develop then communicate it to a team. Highly recommend this book!
