The book Art Forms in Nature is a collection of prints, made by the scientist Ernst Haeckel, of an enormous variety of flora and fauna from the sea including microscopic Radiolaria, starfish, and jelly fish. Since Prestel published it in 1998, the book has been a favorite with artists, designers, illustrators, and anyone who enjoys the wondrous forms of the natural world. Now paper engineer Maike Biedersta dt has transformed Haeckel s transcendent work into a three-dimensional book that allows readers to appreciate Haeckel s vivid colors, exceptional precision, and fascination with patterns and geometry. This stunning book features seven pop-ups that allow readers to see nature s brilliance the way that Haeckel did as marvelous, mathematically based creations that support his theory of the unity of all living things. Certain to appeal to his huge variety of fans, this pop-up version of a timeless classic will be treasured for years to come.

Some ingeniously complex pop-up paper patterns, but somewhat pointless really.

Super amazing illustrations..I would have given it 4.5 stars (if it was possible) half a star taken because the pop-up mechanisms needed to be a bit more developed prior to producing this book… This book is a must have if you are a pop-up book collector.

I bought this for friend for her birthday and she was absolutely blown away by it. It’s been so intricately designed and the art is just fantastic.

This pop up book is amazing, colourful and bold with some amazing Haeckel images.
One star had to be taken off as a couple of the pages don’t unfold 100% perfectly, for example I noticed the jellyfish should really pop from the page but has to be helped out as it stays flat.
