The book itself is big, sturdy and easy to understand. It isn’t the best for people that are just beginning art and more for people that understand the basics and are in the middle of learning art. For those that do understand the basics this book is very helpful to push you to the next level of your drawing. It helped me exceptionally and I feel like my drawing has improved because of it.

This book shows the techniques of how to draw a person in proportion. It’s great for my 11 year old son.

Christopher Hart is a new name to me, but I suspect that my son and myself will be becoming increasingly familiar with him. I loved cartooning as a young man, and now my child is showing the same interests, some research quickly turned up CH as ‘the don’ of cartooning instruction. So it has proven. I’ve bought a few such ‘instructional manuals’ from a few authors, but none come up to the standard of detail – incredible, microscopic detail – present in Mr Hart’s work. Where some manuals will show you how to draw a specific character in a a specific position, Hart takes the time to deal with proportionality, stance, angle, aspect and ratio at a level of detail simply absent from competitor works. I wish Christopher Hart had been my art teacher. Get his books before it’s too late!

I purchased this as a gift, it was for an eleven year old and she loved it.
I flicked through it myself before wrapping it up. This looked easy to understand and follow, so much so I may look at buying this or another book by the same author for my 7 year old daughter.
