The last of us 2 for me was an amazing game. A giant leap from the first one, delving more into the world and what humanity truly means after it’s stripped away again and again. The story was so immersive to the point where I ended up enjoying slamming and choking Ellie which I would never have thought I would ever say or even cross my mind! So I decided to purchase this to see more of the concept art after going through the in game bonus contents. The images and concepts were great from the start when they were explaining the initial character and world designs but after that it was just a slide show of landscapes and narrating what happens in the game? I guess that’s good but not when that’s the only content? Either way it was very interesting to flip through and I recommend it if you have the spare money for it.

Overall, very nice collection of artwork. My only disappointment is the severe lack of artwork for “The Ratking”. Given that there is most substantial pieces to view in the game concept art section, it was pretty lame that in the book there is simply a tiny picture of it in a corridor. Theres also no section for Lev or Isaac. I also noted quite a few spelling mistakes in the book, but that doesn’t really bother me all that much. It also would have been nice to get some more explanations for things like the seraphites or WLF, a lot of what is mentioned in this book is pretty obvious from the game so it didn’t really feel like I got much out of it. Giving this a higher rating only because what artwork is there is absolutely stunning. The landscapes and character art are great so I definitely enjoyed reading through this – just wish it was more in depth.

This book is gorgeous, the artwork is fantastic with full page spreads from the chapters in the game. I bought this a few years ago and I still get it out regularly just to look back through it. The game is one of my favourites ever because it looks so good and this book really shows off all the incredible artwork. If you like the game (or the tv show) then definitely buy this!

This book has great quality paper alongside highly detailed art that promt the game The Last of Us 2.
Some art included within this book show a much different beginning than the one we saw first.
If you ever purchase this book, take a look at page 159, where Abby wouldn’t have killed Joel right away but infiltrate his life. The art sparks many different ideas as to how the game would have looked like and played out, however this idea was only an initial which was dropped.
The concept art we find within this book has details as to what was the initial idea, right next to it we would see art from the game at hand. I have to personally say that concept art for Ellie and Jesse show the most change from the starting idea to the end result.
There’s not much to mention other than the art for the background, art that inspired every location the game takes you, such art shows in detail how each place thrived and continued ‘living’ even after the apocalypse. Not to mention the amount of design that went into the background such as the shops we encounter within the game (cups, flyers, logos and so on).
I included two photos of the book, but I won’t include any photos of the art within it. FYI, this book presents somewhat gruesome art too.

Good for a die hard TLOU2 fan who loved the graphics and beauty of the game as much as its gameplay. Many landscape on and not many character design within unlike the first book. This didnt matter so much to me as I love the landscapes and they make a great showpiece still – however it is worth considering if you want character designs
