Very upset that this book turned my boy away from trying new foods. He memorised this page and often recites word for word how Olivia finds the food disgusting and ever since then we have struggled to get him to try new foods. Got him this book age 2 and have thrown it away now he’s 4 as every time we make progress, we realised he would read this book and revert. Very upset at the thoughtlessness of this.

This has been my sons favourite book since he was 2, he’s now 4 and we still read it every night. I find it’s a great way to recap all his feelings during that day and reflect on them. He often uses the familiar situations in the book as reference to his own experiences. Today, he had his first parents evening and his teacher said he’s very articulate in expressing his emotions and I put it down to this book. I’m purchasing another to add to his class library!

I do agree with some of the other reviews the examples used could be better. However, there are things I love about this book too and my 2.5 year old does too:
• Inclusive with names, he was happy to see a child named Muhammad. Love that people of colour are included too.
• lift the flaps are interactive
• the last 2 pages have questions to go through with your little one, he enjoys pointing the the face of the child that had the emotion in the question (almost like a game)
• love the use of colours and different settings (like doctors, preschool, park) these are familiar but relatable for a child this age.
• after very recently coming out of an abusive relationship with an emotionally unavailable man I am determined I teach my little boy emotions from a young age, recognising and expressing them in a healthy way. This book is a great start.

Bought this for my grandson who has autism, the book seems study enough to with stand a bit heavy handling.
I am happy with it

Stories and drawings are lovely! My son loves the stories and keep asking me to read them all day long!

I’d love to say this is a great book and maybe I’m being over the top, but there’s a page about ‘disgust’ which uses vegetables as an example. We’re trying so hard to get our toddler to eat peas etc, it wasn’t helpful having greens described as ‘slimy’ and disgusting so I’ve had to ban the book for now. Hopefully when she’s better able to understand we can bring it back out again!

Although my grandson is too young to understand this but. Can never be too young to be read too. Great colours and little flaps so he can interact with as we read to him. So this will
be easier for him to understand as he gets older.
