The Freshman (College Years Book 1)
£5.70
Tall, dark and…mysterious. Football player.
Some random guy I flirted with while out of town visiting my father.
Turns out we go to the same college. Even weirder, we discover our fathers are business rivals. And when they find out we had a minor situation-ship, they forbid us from dating.
Easy enough to do. Our campus is huge. I can avoid him.
But I keep running into Mr. Tall, Dark and Mysterious everywhere I go. I mean, I’m not one to chase after a sexy jock but I start to realize he’s difficult to resist. And he’s just as into me as I’m into him.
Defying our fathers’ wishes means we need to keep whatever it is we’re doing secret. Totally fine. We can be just friends. Even if what we’re doing quickly switches to friends with benefits, and then turns into…something more.
We might be asking for trouble, but maybe being with Tony is worth the risk.

Out of all the YA characters Monica Murphy has written about, Hayden and Tony have to be my favourite. Their difficult circumstances don’t stop them from getting what they want. Hayden is full of determination and is such a strong character, I couldn’t help but root for her. Tony recently went through a breakup and is quite vulnerable, I just loved him. There were some real swoon moments within this book.
I will admit their home environment and some of the school situations did surprise me, and I wasn’t a massive fan of those but I loved the characters so much, I kind of overlooked it, if I’m honest.
Overall I recommend this book.

????????????????
I never read this author before it a first time.
Tony was sweet, sexy and swoony. Monica was funny, gorgeous and the enemies daughter.
I loved how they didn’t let their parents define them. I loved the friends to lover element.
I loved the group dynamics and how they all interacted.

Absolutely love Tony & Hayden, both anti love but yet they can’t help what they feel for each other. Tony the one to give advice, and observe those around him. Hayden outspoken and knows what she wants.
There’s a bit of a role reversal after the half way point, you’ll know what I mean when you read it.
Just love it, plot, characters everything just flowed and kept me intrigued. It was nostalgic seeing the past characters.
Super excited for Jackson & Calebs books, I honestly have no clue which side the coin will land for those 2.

The first book in the new College Years series is off to a great start. Full of the drama you love in a YA romance, broken hearts, family feuds all the trappings that keep you coming back for more.
Tony has just transferred to Fresno State, a small out-of-town college. Star football player Tony, is going to have to work to even get a chance on the team, but he is determined to prove himself. Tony and Hayden’s parents are both divorced, and both live with their fathers who are married to younger women. When the pair meet by chance they hit it off, neither believe in love, Tony has had his heart broken, his mon never stuck around so trust is hard for him, and Hayden hasn’t ever been on the receiving end of affection from her family. But as the two become close, a family drama unfolds that puts them right in the limelight.
A really nice start to this new series.

Do you remember your college days?? I do and it’s nothing like what Monica wrote, maybe it’s because I am from the UK. I never experienced any of the dorms or leaving home to attend a college further a field but I loved experiencing it in my mind.
Monica has done it again. Made me feel like I was watching a movie while reading a book. It was a fantastic read, I was pulled in until the end and it was worth it.
Hayden is a girl who knows what she wants and doesn’t want to live the life her car dealing dad has for her. Until she meets a guy and she wants him but her dad demands it doesn’t go anywhere…. but what happens when you are denied something…. you go for it. But does she want to full in love and be ruined for the rest of her life or does she want to feel the emotions and know what’s it like to be in love??
Tony is an Italian and we all know what Italians do to us right?? His dad is also a car dealer man. He has his football and college life to think about. But when he sees a girl and keeps seeing her around college he wants to know more of her. But when his dad forbids him to, it makes the challenge that more sweeter. It’s a bit like Romeo and Juliet, forbidden fruit always taste better. But again does he want to live a life like his dad and be a cheater or does he want to feel what love is??
This book something you don’t want to miss, you need to experience it all.
Now I must know what happens between Jackson and Ellie

I loved getting the chance to know more about Tony in this book. He turned out to be such a likeable character. I also loved him and Hayden together. They made the perfect match. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and rooted for them throughout. Overall this was a fab read and I’m looking forward to reading Jackson’s book next.

What a perfect start to a new series and I’m just so excited where else Monica takes us because I can tell it will be a hit just like The Callahans Series.
Tony was a perfect hero and I loved everything about him – and I mean EVERYTHING. I was excited about his book especially since Diego’s story and he didn’t disappoint. His character was affected by his break-up with Sophie and his parent’s divorce, but then he meets Hayden and his thoughts on love are quickly changed. I loved how he couldn’t stop thinking about her from the very first moment, he was so into it and it was cute.
Whilst it was easy for me to fall in love with Tony, mainly because I really liked him in the previous books, it was very hard for me to get to Hayden. Something about her seemed off, but that was probably because of her views on love and how she made a huge deal of Tony’s age. Still, I did like her towards the end and found her very bold.
Their relationship was very well written because Monica perfectly pointed out the growing passion and connection. I loved how they always put labels on their relationship and never stuck to it. It was also very fun to read, I laughed especially when other guys appeared in the story – and I can’t wait to get to know their stories. We once again got a new (with some familiar faces) friends group I will be yet again obsessing over.
