A Fire in the Flesh: A Flesh and Fire Novel

The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.
After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.
Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though – not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis’s erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could’ve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.
But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. He’ll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and that’s exactly what will happen if he doesn’t Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.
But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates…

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! For a penultimate book in a series A Fire in the Flesh has a surprisingly tame ending and yet its just absolutely perfect and I thank the author for not leaving us on an incredibly heartbreaking moment.
A Fire in the Flesh begins very action packed way, instantly from the major cliffhanger the author left us with previously. Kolis has taken Sera but Daddy Nyktos is not about to take that lying down and the epic showdown between uncle and nephew commences! Most of the book is taken up with Sera’s time in Kolis’ company in the city of the Gods and that is without a doubt needed. It’s a struggle for Sera as she gets to know Kolis more, gets to know more about things that are happening in Dalos, things Nyktos has tried to protect her from as the countdown to the end slowly creeps closer. More revelations are revealed that are important not just for this series but the FBAA series too! There is less time in Nyktos’ company but the author still manages to squeeze him in and have some rather spicy steamy scenes especially towards the end.
Sera struggles a lot with her sense of right and wrong, she has her own firm beliefs and views but everything in Dalos is so muddied its hard to see. Everyone is so accepting of the behaviour, enjoys it for the most past that it leaves her in a perpetual state of confusion, not understanding how its accepted but when surviving has become your way of life for so long its hard to see and accept the awful truth! And yet no matter what is thrown at her she stays strong, her fight and determination unbroken!
I can honestly say that I have never been so emotional, so heartbroken, or cried tears of overwhelming sadness during a spicy, smutty scene before in my life. It was such a bittersweet moment as Sera’s clock finally struck midnight and we learned the outcome of her fate as it balanced to precariously on the edge of the knife. There are only a certain lucky few authors who have made me cry physical tears, due to my complete obsession and deep connection with their characters and this author has joined the illustrious ranks! I am so beyond excited for the final book in the series to end Sera and Nyktos’ story and to finally get most of my questions answered! If you love fantasy romance with gods and drakons then this is the book for you!

“Life was vicious. When stolen, it became the ruin of realms, a wrath that even Death would hide from. And Death would hide from me.”
Wow. Just WOW! This was pure Jen working her magic once again. Every time I close yet another book in this series, I am only left with nothing but gratitude, respect, want and an undying love for these characters, but I’ll be honest that last page ache is hitting hard.
This one physically hurt to read at times, but my queen Sera will always be such a force to be reckoned with. One thing that I always appreciate in Jen’s writing is that no matter what the characters never lose their spark or drive and they are no damsel. The way she remembered who she is was truly incredible to experience. The strength she has is unmatched. The lengths she is willing to go to protect. I am bowing down.
Even though he might not have appeared as often as I would like him to, Nyktos was just as much a prominent part of this book. Every moment we did get though was pure and utter bliss. He is the blueprint and truly UNMATCHED at times.
My heart was broken, bruised but also stitched delicately back together with her words. There were cries that turned into sobs but moments of laughter and love that filled my soul with so much light. This will forever be my fictional haven.
The questions, answers, connections, and THEORIES my gods this had was beyond. I might even go as far as to say this is a new favourite with the development we got. I will now be fully on hyper fixation mode till we get the next book.
No words truly can describe the amount of love I have for this series. I cannot wait to return home.
P.s Is it normal to have almost 300+ highlights!
Quotes that I have not stopped and will not stop thinking about…
You’re my everything”, he said, cheek pressed to mine…“my world, my salvation, my redemption.”
We’re here.” Both of his hands cupped my cheeks. “We’re together. Right now. That is all that matters. Just us. Just right now.” Exhaling roughly, I nodded. “Just us.”
A wolf sat on the bank of my lake, one more silver than white, he watched and I knew I was safe.”
I am nothing without you liessa, he whispered…and there will be nothing without you.
Even if I’m not looking at you, you are still all I see… I see you, Sera. I always have.
The calm in my storm. My strength when I was weak. The breath when I couldn’t breathe. He was more than my King. My husband. Ash was the other half of my heart and soul.
“Fates, Sera, I…” Ash’s chest rose sharply as he cupped my cheek. “I love you.”
