This Christmas, the hunters become the hunted…
When four trail hunters go missing in the fells of Cumbria on Christmas Eve, the race is on to find them before nightfall – when the temperature plummets.
After hours of searching, the first body is found… Not frozen in the snow, but brutally murdered and bearing a warning: the real hunt has begun.
As a snowstorm descends, three lives hang in the balance. But can the killer be caught before the trail goes cold?
From the master of Christmas crime comes a thriller that will chill you to the bone this Winter, perfect for fans of James Patterson, Clare Mackintosh and anyone who prefers their mince pies with a side of murder.

I was very lucky to get an advance copy of this book. Really enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed the first three in the series. The Night Before Christmas is fast-moving with lots of shocks and I didn’t guess the ending. Love the characters and the Cumbria setting, and I can’t wait for book five.

Really enjoyed this fourth book in the series, the books get better each time. I hope there is a fifth on the way soon. Good Christmas thriller. Well done, Alex.

This is the best book I’ve read all year. Top marks for storyline, pace and setting. It’s the fourth in the Det James Walker series and like the others had me guessing to the very end. Alex Pine always delivers a Christmas treat and I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy through Netgalley. It’s brilliant and I can’t wait for the next in the series. Five stars for sure.

Compared to Jack Cartwright and J D Kirk the writing is poor. Reasonable story.

Again this is well written and researched but I did not enjoy the Fox Hunting story, too much politics and gore.

Highly enjoyable story, keeps you hooked. Well written book would recommend to all. Hopefully there will be another book after this one

This is the 4th year now I’ve had a wonderful Christmas murder to read. It’s become a tradition for me to read a DI James Walker mystery in November and weirdly it helps me get in the festive spirit haha.
This book was great again, another unique storyline and whilst I did work out bits of the whodunit I didn’t quite work it out entirely and I enjoyed the journey of discovery. Plus a couple of red herrings caught me out too haha.

Another good twisty yarn from the James Walker series. I read it in 3 days. Lake District sounds very wintry in December.
