The Chalk Tower

The Reverend Grace Danton – along with her sheepdog Nell – arrives in Flaenburg, a close-knit fishing community on the Yorkshire coast, to take over as the minister of the village church. Descended from the Vikings and still holding an annual Fire Festival, the people there are tough but friendly. The last thing she expects to find is the body of a young woman soon after her arrival.

Invalided out of the police force, she can’t seem to let go of her previous career as she is convinced there is more to the apparent suicide than meets the eye. Confiding her suspicions to her friend Sal and her old boss, Inspector Gresham, she sets out to discover the truth which leads her to a nail-biting ending. Follow her as she negotiates life-threatening situations, snow storms, hostility from certain villagers – and the indignity of being cast as Dame in the local panto!
