This book was around our house when I was a child and I remember loving the illustrations; it’s such a timeless classic. I bought this for my 2 year old daughter, mainly as a nostalgia treat for myself, but it’s actually been brilliant for helping her get to grips with having a new baby sister, by going through all the things that babies and families do daily; waking up and getting ready for the day, going to the park, food shopping, toys and playtime, siblings, and even a funny page on accidents where babies and toddlers are doing silly things.
We read it nearly every day now and talk about all the things happening and what is similar to our family activities. She likes showing it to her baby sister too. It’s such a beautiful book, I would absolutely recommend.
I’m a mum of 2 who does lots of research and reads tonnes of reviews to help me choose the best products for my family. If you found this review helpful I’d love if you clicked the helpful button below to let me know, thanks!

The sweetest boom. All my children have loved this book. Open ended and allows for conversation

Classic book, bought for a friend’s baby, all our babies/toddlers loved this book, the cover of ours wore off with love. It is a book you chat to with your child about rather than a story. Fun to pick out which baby goes with which family as your child gets older. Lovely mix of ages in babies, some toddlers p, some boys some girls (and yes you can tell which is also nice for little ones discovering who they are). Some breastfed babies, some bottles, some with siblings, twins, pets etc… nothing not to like about it!

This is my daughter’s (age 2) favourite book, she makes me read it to her every day if not more than once. Only reason i’m on amazon now is i’m looking at another copy because it is so well read and battered it might need replacing. She LOVES it. I remember my older daughter liking it when she was little too.

I have read this almost nightly for the last 9 months with my now nearly 2 and half year old. He just loves it as, even though it’s getting a bit dated, he can relate nearly all the pictures to his life. He will talk at length about each bit of detail in the pictures and goes through phases of different pages particularly appealing to him. He will even say “that’s like me got”, “that’s what Harry do” etc. This is a great book as it encourages a conversation around what you’re looking at rather than just being read too.
A very close, friend of mine is due to have her first baby soon, after thinking long and hard about what I might get for a present I know that a copy of this book has got to be part of it!
Ours is so well read it’s now in three pieces!
