I’m an experienced home-brewer who used to fail over and over again at cloning the East Coast hoppy and juicy beers. This book covers everything you need to know to allow you to keep experimenting with a solid foundation knowledge and giving you some sort of roadmap of the do’s and don’ts. Scott Janish, the author, was also kind enough to answer my questions via email. A+++

Incredible book! I’ve been delving into the science of brewing (water chemistry, etc.) a bit lately, and have a lot to learn, so this is a very welcome and timely release. A fair bit of technical stuff but easy to read and digest. Not too academic. Plenty of points to take on board and try with future brews. Every few pages there’s an amazing fact plus ideas for putting into practice. I plan to read again as soon as possible but this time either mark up or sticker the book, or make notes. Such a pleasure to learn! Keep feeling this needs to be a regularly updated book, so am looking forward to 2nd Edition! A few typos but nothing major.

This book is incredible, hops will never be the same after reading this book, it is not a step by step how to use type of book, this brings lots of studies on hops and something it is up to you to make what you want of it, some studies are contradictory, however a great book would definitely recommend

The author has taken a tremendous amount of scientific information and distilled it down in a way that’s easy to read and easy to understand. This book has substantially improved my understanding of the role of hops in brewing and how to use them for best impact. My beer is already tasting better!

What this book doesn’t tell you about brewing a top notch IPA, isn’t worth knowing. Its written with the experienced brewer in mind and is sometimes very technical. Each chapter is summarised very well.

Fantastic book with scientific approach about everything hops and also easy to follow. For about 230 pages there are more then 350 traceable references. Well spent money!
