There are a lot of activities to do in the book which is great, but the space to do the activities on the page is small. Bearing in mind that most this age have not got small very neat hand writing, their going to need bigger words and more space or gaps to write in.
The activities though are pitched at the right age with similar phonics as taught in school.

One of the highlights of this book is its emphasis on progression. The activities are organized carefully, starting with simple concepts and gradually advancing to more complex phonetic patterns. By following this logical order, the book enables children to build a strong foundation in phonics and gradually develop their reading skills. Additionally, the book includes helpful guidance for parents and teachers, ensuring that they can provide appropriate support to the children as they progress through the activities. Great added support book for my daughter .

They make his learning fun, very vivid for my five year old little boy. He’s keen to show me what he’s learning, whilst also having a bit of fun using this book.

I think for the cost of these books it’s worth investing in a few to help at home as well at school. He’s been learning little whaddle, so this has been helping show us what he can do, and how independent he can actually be when he wants to be.

I think he’s enjoyed doing this, he smiles everytime it comes out. it also means extra time with me spent doing something valuable with his education, so I don’t feel quite as useless at home when I’m unsure sometimes what he knows at school. They are definitely our favourite type of books in this house.

We ordered this book for our girls in year 1 (aged 5 , nearly 6) to have fun with whilst giving some additional fun ways to help with their phonics lessons.

This book perfectly compliments what they are currently learning at school and also uses some different methods of teaching them how some spellings of sounds can be the same.

There are lots of different ways and challenges for them with answers in the back to check too.

We have given our girls a page at a time to do and they really enjoy them. The wording is simple and also helps each them as a reading exercise about words they may not have encountered yet so it also helps improve spelling and understanding of new words.

Absolutely love this book. Some pages we photocopied as we have twins so that they can both have a go at the same time and can discuss and help each other.

Overall – a fantastic compliment to their existing school learning and home work. We have a couple of other books also from this range and all of them are so well thought out and brilliantly targeted to the year 1 learning syllabus. Full marks 🙂

Bought this for my 4 year old who really enjoyed it. It’s hit enough to challenge them and last a while.

My son is in year 1 and this is a great way for him to recap and support what he is learning in school. These books follow the curriculum which is reassuring to know. They are easy to follow and have a range of different activities to keep children engaged (eg: speaking, colouring, drawing lines, circling etc.). My son is able to read it and work through the book when he comes home from school. There’s also a sad, nonplussed and happy face check box at the bottom of each double page for children to select how they have enjoyed the activities. Happy faces so far!

Great books for kids to use at home with parents to do some home learning very useful for aiding children with phonics learning.Lightweight and do not take much room to store.I have two grandchildren five and six years old and they liked them but did need help to understand what they had to do nice way to spend time interacting with them while they are learning.
