£7.50

The Chinese Grammar Wiki began in 2012 as a modest website with a bold vision: to record all of the grammar structures in the Chinese language, categorize them by difficulty level, explain each one in clear, jargon-free English, and link them all together. Initially the wiki was a resource exclusively for the clients of AllSet Learning’s Shanghai-based learning consultancy. But five years later, its popularity among learners has exploded, and the Chinese Grammar Wiki has become the #1 online resource for Chinese grammar among independent learners and college students alike. This book is the second major volume, covering all essential grammar points that an intermediate learner needs to master. Together with the Elementary and Upper Intermediate volumes, the series will comprise the most complete single resource on Chinese grammar in print. This volume features:- 145 B1 (Intermediate) grammar points- 200+ separate grammar structures- 1,500+ examples (with pinyin and English translation)- Extensive interlinking of similar grammar points- Bilingual glossary of grammar terms- Learner-centric design

This book is difficult to navigate. There is no good reference index for the terms or easy search capability. List at the front seems not to be in any logical order. Whilst when you find the terms explanation is quite good, lack of good index is a serious gap.

The content is fantastic. It’s laid out very clearly. It has helped me clarify some more advanced grammar nuances. This has been a very valuable supplement to my lessons.

It could do with an index, though. Would definitely recommend:

The chinese grammar wiki series are brilliant. Both the first book and this one are available via a website but it is very handy to have as an ebook and I bought it in part to support what is a really useful project. However, the second book unlike the first one has one very important bit missing. There is no contents page which means that to find a particular grammar article you have to scroll through every page to find the really useful and well written articles! Ironically I’m having to go to the website to work out where the article is in the ebook I bought to avoid having to look at the website. Can’t believe this has been overlooked.
