Wildlife Photographer: A Course in Creative Photography
£2.30
As nature photography has shifted decisively towards digital in recent years, much has been written offering guidance and tips on technical matters, but there has been little published on the creative aspects. European Wildlife Photographer of the Year Chris Gomersall addresses this gap in a fresh and accessible guide, which takes account of developments in photography without dwelling on technical details.
Ten thematic chapters on subjects such as Space, Light, Time and Developing a Narrative are generously packed with examples, advice and suggestions for projects and exercises. The second part of the book consists of sixteen case studies, where Gomersall describes how he achieved some of his most outstanding images.
The large new audience for a guide such as this is evidenced in the growth of ecotourism and the uptake of digital cameras with excellent zoom facilities in recent years. The field has opened up to many more people as cameras are now largely automated and foolproof. The book will serve as an inspiration to these relative newcomers, as well as to more accomplished photographers who are technically assured but are looking to extend their creativity, to try fresh approaches and to learn from one of the masters.

Good book to cover the basics of starting out in wildlife photography, not too much technical detail as perhaps I was expecting. Some of the detail I knew already from reading other books but not disappointed with adding this to my collection.
Book arrived quickly and the condition was exactly as described.

If you are looking for a “How to” book on wildlife photography then this is not the one you want.
It doesn’t give lists of equipment or explain the difference between macro and micro like many books, rather it concentrates on how to look at photography from a creative, rather than a practical perspective which is what marks it out from many of the books in my collection.
There are SOME photographic tips, but a basic knowledge of photography is essential if you are to get the best from it.
Well worth the money.

Didn’t learn anything new so fine if you want to look at someones art but if you’re looking for real insider tips on preparation, attraction and developing your surroundings to ensure year round wildlife on your doorstep I wouldn’t bother

Fabulous book! If you are interested in Wildlife Photography and want to take a step forward photographically, creatively and intellectually then this is the book for you. No technical or equipment advice as the author clearly states but the writing style and information are both thought provoking and stimulating.
Recommended.

Bought as a present for someone who wanted to learn about wildlife photography. There is plenty of useful advice for anyone who is just starting out on this hobby and even for the more advanced photographer. This is a well produced book with some excellent photographs in it. I think it will depend on your own level of expertise as to whether you learn anything or not but even if you don’t it’s worth looking through just for the photography reproduced within it.
