£2.80
It began with The Notebook . . .
After thirty years of marriage, Wilson is forced to face a painful truth. His wife, Jane, has fallen out of love with him.
Despite the shining example of his in-laws, Noah and Allie Calhoun (originally recounted in The Notebook), and their fifty-year love affair, Wilson is unable to express his true feelings. With his daughter about to marry, and his wife thinking about leaving him, Wilson knows it is time to act. He will do anything he can to save his marriage. With the memories of Noah and Allie’s inspiring life together as his guide, he vows to make his wife fall in love with him . . . all over again.

The best of Nicholas Sparks books yet ????and I’ve read most of them but this is quite a different romantic story.

It was nice to have a male author acknowledge the fact that men are not perfect, and we know that. But despite this we will go above and beyond when we eventually realise our faults.
For those who have read the notebook, you will hopefully appreciate the way you already feel like part of the story. That’s what I enjoyed most, how familiar so much of it was, yet without being repetitive or unoriginal. This isn’t the greatest love story ever told as the notebook was, but that’s the point, it’s about the “real” side of love and marriage. Yes it’s not as quickly paced as other books, but I would not for one minute call it slow or arduous. Nicholas Sparks, I take my hat off to you. You’ve impressed me yet again.

I’ve read this book several times; because I love reading it after the Notebook (it gives a more detailed insight to what happened after the classic love story that is narrated in that particular novel) but also because I love it as a stand-alone.
For those who think love and life is all about roses, eat your heart out. Perhaps a more modern version of the Notebook (after all, our relationships these days are affected by tv and internet and people focussing on their careers), this story focusses on regrets and mistakes and how to make them better.
Heart warming, romantic and sad all in one.

Attorney Wilson Lewis has worked hard throughout his thirty-year marriage to support his wife, Jane, and their children, seldom giving a thought to other needs they may have of his time. Now with some degree of shock he has reason to fear that perhaps Jane is no longer as contented with their marriage as he is. At the approach of their thirtieth anniversary he sets out to atone in the most spectacular way. Written in the first person, this love-story with a difference held me enchanted throughout

Having seen the notebook on dvd I decided to try this book. I hadn`t read any of Nicholas Sparks` books before – I don`t tend to read books by male authors for some reason. I enjoyed reading this book from the first page as it`s from a male`s perspective and one I didn`t expect. Being in my forties and married for over 20 years I could identify with the problems in the marriage – I suspect that many women would like their husbands to be more romantic! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn`t put it down – the ending is lovely. I recommend it to anyone who has been in a relationship for a long time – I don`t think my daughter would enjoy it as much to be honest. Now all I have to do is to get my husband to read it!!!!!

this is the sequel to the the notebook and is even more of a tearjerker. Thw story is about wilson – son in law to noah. i did kind of figure out the ending to the book but i still really enjoyed it. The journey of the characters in the book towards the final event in the book is much more interesting and the point of the whole book. noah features in this book and he is dealing with the loss of allie, he is an example of how love still goes on even after the person is gone.
another book that brings tears on every page. keep a big box of tissues handy!!!

Whilst I enjoyed this book, I did not find it as compelling a read as other books by Nicholas Sparks. The ending was lovely and did put into perspective what had gone before. Having said all, the book did highlight the pitfalls of making work the sole priority in life.
