After losing her fiancé and her dream job in the same week, Garland Fairford’s life is turned upside down.

Having recently met a long-lost relative – Honey Fairford – through her work as a historical costumier, Garland is intrigued when Honey reveals she is opening a Wedding Dress museum in Lancashire. With nothing to lose, Garland accepts the offer of a job there.

What she doesn’t expect is to come face-to-face with a ghost from her past – her old friend, Thom, who mysteriously disappeared years ago.

As Garland begins reading the stories behind each of the beautiful wedding dresses, and sets about repairing both them and her relationship with Thom, could this finally be the chance for her own happy-ever-after?

I really love Trisha Ashley. Her books are usually cosy romantic comedies which are genuinely funny in a gentle way.
This was really not at all her usual. It was far too long, yet still missing so much!
They are usually romantic books but in this the romantic story is just a side note. There is no chemistry between the two. The main character has no life and personality. The whole thing including the characters come off as almost robotic as if theyve been designed based on her previous books but not given life!

So little of the book is given to developing the couples relationship.

The book is so tedious. Generally her books do have a big portion of the daily banal in them but usually somehow it usually works. This did not. It is incredibly boring with far too much space given to dress making and the cat! It honesly doesn’t feel like she wrote this book or if it she did her editor didnt bother to do their job. So irritated to have spent money on this.
The historical story included through diaries is incredibly depressing, I assumed there would be some pay off within it but nope.

For once instead of feeling cheered and warm after reading her books i just feel resentful of the hours wasted and seriously depressed!

Have brought this latest offering but not yet read – though I have bought all of Trisha’s books and read most of them, having enjoyed them all. Popped to one side for a holiday but arrived in perfect condition and on time.

No doubt will be thoroughly enjoyable as always and will update review once read.

Another excellent story from Trisha Ashley. Very much in keeping with her others. It’s a great feel good narrative with a plot that holds you and a happy ending. I love the characters and feel they drew you in. I also loved finding out about a new craft and the skill of costume design.
I enjoyed it which it overlaps with previous books she’s written and past characters are mentioned.
In summary another favourite for my shelf.

The book was nicely written and a fairly enjoyable read but it was unnecessarily long so it felt like a bit of a slog at times. It was also almost identical in plot to Trisha’s ‘the little house of hopes and dreams’ but with theatre costumes instead of stained glass and a cat instead of a dog.
Also this is not actually about a wedding dress repair shop so whoever chose the title needs a shake.

This is such a wonderful storyline by Trisha Ashley. I love all it’s characters especially Honey and Garland, as always with Trisha’s books there are so many layers, and qualities to every character, including that of Golightly. Together with some familiar places, if you can spot them from Trisha’s books.

I loved the idea of the Wedding Museum of Misfortune, with all the intricate clothing and stories surrounding each garment and it’s owner, both happy and sad, as Garland readies them for display letting each dress tell its own story, including that of her own.

We get to know a little of Rosa May through her journal, as we follow her own story and the mystery leading to her disappearance.

There are secrets and surprises aplenty that come to light within this wonderful storyline, and it’s so good, you won’t want it ever to finish ❤️????

It took me a little while to really warm to any of the characters at the beginning of this book.
Once I did, I became interested in some aspects of the story but not all.
It certainly isn’t one of Trisha Ashley’s best novels but nevertheless quite enjoyable.

What a misleading title! It gives no indication of the book’s content. Who chose it. That’s why it’s only 4 stars.

Great characters, lovely idea of running the two stories together. Unusual a wedding museum like that. I would recommend this book.
