I Don’t Want To Grow Up: Life, Liberty, and Happiness. Without a Career.: 3 (Nature Book Series)

£12.31

America’s bestselling author of Wilderness, The Gateway to the Soul and Nature’s Silent Message offers a glimpse into his childhood of skateboarding, high school brawls, and early trials and tribulations with money and success. The scenery may be different, but the writing style is business as usual, with life lessons cruising a mile a minute in this insightful read about what it means to never grow up.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

We’ve been asked this question over and over, practically since the day we could walk. Many of us have absolutely no idea. We never have and we never will. This bothers us terribly, and on a profound level. We feel useless, disconnected, scattered, unfocused. If we could just make up our minds—about something, about anything!

What if you didn’t have to grow up?

Society would like us to believe that to be happy, we need successful careers. But let’s face it—we’re not all meant to be doctors, lawyers, scientists, and accountants.

Some are meant to be dreamers.

The people on the fringes of society who don’t necessarily subscribe to the modern version of the American Dream. Artists, adrenaline junkies, nomads, life seekers. Those who doubt conventional wisdom, question authority, and continually search for newer, better ways to live.

The world needs freaks—now more than ever.

Never before has there been such an opportunity to live the life of your dreams. Never before have there been so many ways to earn an income. Never before have there been so many ways to have fun!

What do you want to be…when you don’t grow up?

A really great read would definitely recommend. Although I don’t think everyone would understand it or relate to it you should still give it a read and see if it speaks to you. All through high school I have been thinking similar ideas but unsure how to express them or even at times unsure what I mean. But the author got it perfect! I’m 18 and now more than ever family, friends and even strangers are asking me what I’m going to do with my life? What do you want to do? And I say travel and then on goes a bunch of other questions and what about the funds? What about a house? Settling down? And at times the security sounded tempting but this book kept me on track and reminded me to keep following my dreams and the burning passion in my heart. The passion we have is what keeps us alive and I don’t need to follow my friends or my family’s footsteps. We all chose to live in different ways and this books gave me the clarity and reassurance I needed. Thank you I think you saved me from falling in with the masses

A definite must read for anyone wanting to challenge their way of thinking or maybe just feeling like they are not fitting into the “norms” of society.

This book is a must read! It really does get you thinking that life is too short to not do things YOU WANT TO DO!
Would 100% recommend anyone reading this book even if you want a 9-5!

First things first, I’m not big into reading, never have been but when I got sent a video of a quote from this book I had to give it a try and try I did. Completed it in a couple evenings after work. Couldn’t put the thing down.

Something I’ve always struggled with when reading is the lack of imagination to make the words become pictures in my mind but for the first time I saw myself in scenarios played out with commentary of Scott’s writing.

Not only did I get a vivid perspective of Scott’s life but it evoked memories of amazing parts of my life, present and future.

Will 100% be reading the rest in his collection.
Fantastic book. Highly recommend. I relate to almost everything in this book and I’m sure many others will to.

Any time I lost perspective of what is truly important I will once again pick this book up.

Don’t think, just buy and support this man’s work. It will effect your mind profoundly.

A fantastic book that’s easy to digest and consistently drops small nuggets of golden wisdom on the reader.
I seriously recommend this book, as a gift to yourself or someone you can see doesn’t want to become a “cog in the big machine.
I was already a year into my new life of freedom when i found this book, however it’s one ill consistently carry with me for a long time. The book solidified my thoughts and helped me pave the way for others to begin to think the same way.

I hope whoever is reading this becomes free, and helps others become free to.
As a mentor once said to me “You only got one go round, make sure you use it”

I really enjoyed this book and it’s message. I’ve been trying to find what I want to do with my life, and somehow this book has given me a clearer picture of where I should be heading. I love the message of staying childlike, and I think this book portrays a great way of thinking and living without feeling pushy or definitive. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels they don’t want to grow up and how to stay childlike for the rest of our lives.
