The Deal Breaker (The Billionaires of Silicon Forest Book 3)
£3.00
Status quo might as well be Dashiell Cabot’s middle name. He has a job he loves, a billion dollars in the bank, and a best friend named Iris who keeps his personal life running smoothly. Why would he ever want to change any of that? But when Iris Jacobs tells him she’s quitting and returning to culinary school, Dash’s beloved status quo is thrown into chaos. Even worse? The thought of her departure is forcing him to realize his feelings for her might extend beyond the friend zone.
Iris wants more out of life than taking care of Dash. She always has. And even though she could never repay him for everything he’s done for her, she can no longer afford to protect his precious status quo at the expense of her own dreams. She has no choice but to leave…unless he can give her a compelling—and possibly romantic—reason to stay.
They’ve always been just friends. That was their deal. But when all is said and done, something will be broken—either their deal…or their hearts.

Genuinely baffled as to how the author expected me to root for a glorified man-child incapable of choosing his own clothes, spends 85% of the book whining that he’s losing his “best friend” and yet only talks about the things he literally pays her to do, and very clearly didn’t want a partner/wife but a mother. The book should have spent more time showing how he was working to better himself, because the “break-up” happened so late in the book that the few chapters after seemed inadequate to truly show his progress. FMC was disappointing, lacked a backbone and let herself be walked all over even when breaking up with Dash, and tbh I can’t say I was rooting for either of them. Disappointing.

Okay, so I hate to rate a book so low, and I hate not finishing a book, so I pushed through to finish.
***SPOILERS***
– I don’t understand why Dash and Iris ended up together. It made no sense.
– Dash was an overgrown man child who mistreated Iris, and she just took it.
– Iris decides to put him in his place but then ends up with some time after.
– Dash was a selfish person. He never thought about Iris. Knowing she had no family he ditched her at Christmas then again on her birthday.
– claims to be her best friend of 15 years but hasn’t spent any time with her in at least 3 years.
There was no real story it seemed all over the place. I’m not sure what the author was going for, but it didn’t hit. If this was a movie, it would be direct to DVD no cinema release, no real effort put in.
I personally didn’t enjoy it and wouldn’t recommend it but some may enjoy it. The only redeeming person in the book was Henry, who was sweet.
