I loved the book because it had a very good plot and was pretty good but the whole story was centred around Lauren and I found her a bit selfish but overall great read and I recommend to teens 11 and over.

This book was a page turning sensation!! I enjoyed it on my holiday and read it nearly everyday! It puts you in someone else’s perspective of an adopted child whilst creating mystery and crime! Highly recommend!!

It was a quick read, did it in around 4 hours, however the storyline was too rushed and not enough details I think for some parts (I’d say which parts but wouldn’t want to spoil for the people who haven’t read this). Random but didn’t like the font size either, too big.

I bought this book for my13yr old daughter who is a reluctant reader. I story line seemed like something she would be interested in so went for the plunge and bought it. I have never seen her devour a book like she did this one! She was up till 11pm on a school night reading it because she said she couldn’t put it down. She has now told me I need to read it, so may have to review it again as a reader. If you have kids who like mystery books, with some suspense and ‘who done it’ story lines then this is highly recommended by the reader. I have since bought her books 2 and 3 in the series as she loved this one so much!

Plot twists and turns
Really exciting story board
Does have some swearing but other than that would really recommend to 10-16 children dependant if that are allowed to read swearing

I bought this book because it straight up looked interesting, I am a teen and this book is amazing! I read it in 1 day because it is quite an easy read but it has so much action and mystery in it and it makes you unsure of which characters to side with. If I had to point out anything at all I would say that the characters were a bit predictable but that is all I can say. I would recommend this book for age over 11 just because some of the scenes in the book are quite frightening. There is also mild bad language but no swearing. I think this book is absolutely amazing and an utterly fabulous story line. As for amazons performance. The book turned up 3 days early and was in very good condition. I am very happy with this buy would recommend.

I think this book was quite good with a really interesting storyline. However, Lauren was a pretty disagreeable maikn character. She’d fuss and fuss until she got herb way, or she’d tell people whhat she wanted and would not stop until she got it. She did not care how her constant whinging affected other people and how hard it was for them, she was really selfish through out the entire thing. When someone called her out for being selfish, shhr went into a massive strop and cried until that person felt guilty and let Lauren get away with murder.
I get that this may be the way the author thinks teenagers act, and maybe this is the way the author acted when she was a teen that made her think this. Still, as a teen myself I find this slightly offensive. This being a popular book, Lauren’s character could influence what people think of teens.
Overall, I think this book was very annoying but it did have a good plot.

I’ve read some of the negative reviews on here and I can see where they’re coming from – this isn’t a complex plots, there are some very unbelievable scenes (being able to break in to a business without any alarms or anyone noticing, for example… or being drugged by someone and then completely fine… happening upon a man who lives in the woods and could help them…) BUT this didn’t bother my daughter who is 13 and a very reluctant reader. In fact, the way that this story quickly goes from one issue to another without there being too much tension is absolutely perfect for a younger reader as they’re not left frustrated… for me, I like there to be more tension but for my daughter who has ADHD and doesn’t like to have to wait to have tensions resolved when reading, it’s perfect for her.
I was more concerned about the amount of typos and punctuation errors in this book, I know a few often slip through the net, but there are several in every chapter which is a shame.
I think this story has brilliant elements, a story which keeps the young mind interested and also makes you question your own family life and wonder what you would do if you were in Lauren’s shoes…
If you’re looking for an easy to read, young teen book then this is perfect for you!
