Vicious Creatures (The Waif in the Wilds Book 1)
£3.90
The horror of waking up from the best dream ever and remembering you’re a monster is indescribable. My soul is screaming for mercy, for forgiveness, for redemption… but I know I’ll never get it. I’m going to Hell for everything I’ve done.
The only thing I can do now is take as many monsters with me as I can.
My list is almost complete. There’s one more name to go, and it’s the hardest job I’ve ever done.
I’m on my way to Castlemaine — a bizarre little town hidden in between Wildwood Canyon and the Badlands of California.
Strange things lurk in Castlemaine. It’s the Bermuda Triangle of the United States — a place of weird old magic, odd people, and vicious creatures like me. Nobody ever wants to go there, because they might not ever come back. But I’ve got no choice.
I’m going to take out the man who taught me to kill.
Vicious Creatures is book one in The Waif in the Wilds, a hot new Urban Fantasy series by bestselling author Lauretta Hignett.

I was expecting this book to be in Prue and Sandys world but I covers where Chloe runs off too after she is cleared from the spell. It is really different but oh my god so blumin brilliant! Chloe constantly battles with her head and emotions but she and the other misfits band together and make quite the messed up little community. As always with Laurettas books the humour is on point. I particularly like the song Chloe sings in the woods and Dwayne is just a hilarious feathered friend that wants to murder everyone! Highly recommend this one!

Vicious Creatures (The Waif in the Wilds book 1) by Lauretta Hignett is a 5 ⭐️ read.
This is Chloe’s story, we met her before in the So I ate a vengeance demon series only she was “sweet dumb Chloe” magic was used to hide away her real self but the veil has been lifted and she’s now a bad@$$ assassin, she feels so much guilt and remorse for who she was and she’s trying to atone for her sins.
This book was so good, I actually wanted to cry every time Chloe remembered her past, the author really made this book unputdownable. I can’t wait for book 2.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This review won’t be able to do this book enough justice unfortunately.
From the very first page you’ll be sucked into Chloe’s world. This story has everything! It’s well written, mind blowing and full of intrigue and action. The characters are all brilliant and I am counting down the twenty nine days to the sequel.
Gwt this book, you won’t regret it.

I received a free copy of the book and I am volunterily leaving a review.
Sweet little Chloe is gone and bad assassin Chloe is back after a 10 year spell was broken. But she feels she needs to repent for her evil deeds. To do this, Chloe insists she has to kill all the evil in her life and eagerly searches for these opportunities.
We get snippets of her life before the spell took hold and they are not pretty. I can’t help but still love her even though she is a maniac.
Oh! And she has a moody, opinionated goose tagging along.
Still loving these books.

Sometimes it’s hard to get into a new series, but with this book I was hooked from the first page. Kick-ass characters with secret identities, found family, quests, redemption and romance, Vicious Creatures has everything you need to keep you absorbed and turning those pages (if you read it in the bath, you will need to add more hot water a couple of times unless you have better self-control than I do).
Can’t wait for the next one!

Absolutely loved this. It’s focussed on Chloe, who in the previous series, is overly nice and sweet. However, she’d been spelled and it turns out that she was nothing like that and was a trained killing machine. On top of that, when the spell was removed she was left with a side effect, so she can “see”.
On the hunt for the monsters who made her, she picks up a “battle” goose sidekick called Dwayne, plus other interesting characters.
The book is very well written. It’s constantly moving along and the characterisation is great. You really get to understand Chloe. She’s a really strong character but she’s warring with what’s happened to her. There’s humour in there too. The story wrapped up but then the last scene opened up another and now I desperately need the next book!
