Royal Teas: Seasonal recipes from Buckingham Palace

£12.20£14.20 (-14%)

There is no more quintessentially British tradition than afternoon tea, and nowhere is that tradition taken more seriously than at Buckingham Palace, where 30,000 afternoon teas are served every year at the summer Garden Parties. Inspired by this British institution, and following on from the success of A Royal Cookbook, Mark Flanagan, the Royal Chef, shares here his favourite tea-time treats. Recipes and clear instruction will guide you through making pastries and savouries, biscuits and show-stopping cakes, from a springtime picnic to a festive Christmas tea, all with the royal touch. This elegant recipe book also tells the story of the local and seasonal ingredients used by Mark Flanagan, such as the deliciously syrupy jam made from the mulberry trees of Buckingham Palace gardens, and the bee hives that keep the Royal Household in honey all year round.

A beautifully presented book which I will treasure. I was pleasantly surprised that it contains some attractive recipes without being too fancy. I have only tried one recipe to date – the lemon drizzle loaves. I was not disappointed and people who have eaten them have been very complementary.

If you want a coffee table decoration then maybe this fits the bill. However if you want recipes this book has very few of them, and none are outstanding

Recipe book for my daughter who loves baking and as such loves this book.

Bland tasting salmon pie but lovely mince pie filling and mince pie pastry.

The book is nicely presented and there are several recipes that I would like to try, but it does seem rather small and slim for the price.

This is OK but more of a trifle to flick through with a smile rather than a serious cookbook. There are some recipes that are not bad and the photography is very good, perhaps the interior shots that are shown with tables laid up with fine silver, crystal and porcelain are more interesting than the food side of things which leads me to think this book was codgered together to sell in the Royal Museums.
It’s an OK stocking filler for Aunties that adore the Royal Family and which can be perused on Christmas morning and imagine they too are at Sandringham.

Great for trying out royal versions of usual recipes, useful little book

The photography in this book is outstanding, so says the professional photographer in my family and I agree wholeheartedly.

The main issue, of course, is the recipes and they are mouthwatering and tasty. Nice to know we are making and eating what the royal family eats.

A lovely book, well priced and would suit anyone who likes to bake. A nice present to give with specialist tea or coffee.
