Working my way through this as a refresher, easy to read and understand. I also have the Bridge one, great series altogether.

I bought this after a sever brain injury, I was expecting it to have things to actually add, subtract and divide, however it contains no we’re to actually put these in the book. I’m extremely disappointed and definitely will not be buying anything from ‘dummies’

In typical Dummies style this book is written by an expert. In typical Dummies style, it is absolutely impenetrable. Simply getting an expert to write the book is not a recipe for success. There’s a very good reason why Teacher Training Colleges exist. Just because you are an expert in a particular subject, doesn’t mean you are qualified to teach it. Teaching is like any other skill. It needs to learned and understood before you can teach your subject to anybody else. The majority of Dummies books suffer from the same problem. This one is no exception. As I said, it’s impenetrable.

Really good has got me thinking. Im really bad at maths really bad so bad I had trouble with it in school to the point the teachers thought I was joking when I seriously wasn’t I feel extreamly dumb when it comes to maths yet I can understand physics, quite the combination. Brought this book in hopes of learning some of the good stuff and within a hour or so of reading I have. I have learnt a few new techniques and ways of thinking that have really helped. I love quizzes and this has challened my mind quite abit. Being 19 I have big ambitions and I’m quite paranoid I would never for fill them due to my lack of intellegnce in maths so wishing and hoping. this will lead to greater things. Would really advice this book to anyone. Weather it were to update your memory in maths or to learn in hope for better things brilliant.

I know I’m not stupid, I run my own business, have done for 40 years but numbers and arithmetic have always bothered me. I had a bullying teacher in school who thought it best to humiliate those who couldn’t immediately grasp any maths so naturally I shied away from the subject. I did enough to pass any exams but maths was never my strong point and, it has bothered me all these years. My wife is a genealogist and calculates ages etc, using addition, subtraction and I envy her the ability to do so and, my new hobby of astronomy means I should get to grips with big numbers. I decided to go back to basics to deal with my number problem once and for all and decided to check out Amazon for something to help me and I found this book which is brilliant. Some of the things are different from what I remember but already I am feeling much more confident and I am actually enjoying the book, so much so that I’m going to tackle algebra next, As usual Amazon’s supplier gave an excellent and speedy service.
