Build a disruptive marketing agency for the modern age

The marketing services industry is on the cusp of a truly transformational period. The old guard, rooted in tradition and resistant to change, will fall and new leaders will emerge. Hybrid marketing agencies that are more nimble, tech savvy, and collaborative will redefine the industry. Digital services will be engrained into the DNA and blended with traditional methods for integrated campaigns. The depth, versatility, and drive of their talent will be the cornerstones of organizations that pursue a higher purpose. The Marketing Agency Blueprint is a practical and candid guide that presents ten rules for building such a hybrid agency.

The new marketing agency model will create and nurture diverse recurring revenue streams through a mix of services, consulting, training, education, publishing, and software sales. It will use efficiency and productivity, not billable hours, as the essential drivers of profitability. Its value and success will be measured by outcomes, not outputs. Its strength and stability will depend on a willingness to be in a perpetual state of change, and an ability to execute and adapt faster than competitors. The Marketing Agency Blueprint demonstrates how to:

  • Generate more qualified leads, win clients with set pricing and service packages, and secure more long-term retainers
  • Develop highly efficient management systems and more effective account teams
  • Deliver greater results and value to clients

This is the future of the marketing services industry. A future defined and led by underdogs and innovators. You have the opportunity to be at the forefront of the transformation.

This handbook contains some great ideas that a marketing agency should be considering in order to keep up with the rapid changes in digital marketing. The industry is moving so quickly that unless your agency is embracing the changes in social media and digital marketing you will be left behind. You will have heard of inbound marketing this handbook explains how to implement it in your agency.

A good concept well articulated and in my opinion absolutely spot on. Lost a bit in the middle for me.

I ordered this book after a mention it received in one of the many fantastic HubSpot resources, I was immediately taken aback by Paul Roetzer’s approach to building a modern and successful agency. The detail he went into, the rationale behind his thinking made perfect sense to me, in fact it resonated so much, that I am currently in the process of shifting my agency from a traditional marketing agency to a tech driven agency.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

I absolutely loved this book. We felt we needed to reinvent our business model and wanted to create an agency that focused on business development and opportunity creation for clients rather than the standard set of services, and this book found me at exactly the right time. There are some great concepts and insights in this book, but the elements I found most valuable were the practical “how to” components that provided detailed insight into implementation of the concepts and insights. I took this book on annual leave and came back super inspired. Have just ordered The Performance Blueprint by the same author and I guess that’s the best ‘review’ I can give for this book.

This book feels like it’s made for a total beginner in website marketing. But the most outrageous things are the £14 price which is steal for such a low quality content book. Feels like a free eBook!!!. Things to consider:

    – He’s talking about website marketing, NOT marketing per se.
    – 50-60% of the book’s content are redundant and feels like filler content. The funny things is that if the PR 20/20 create content like that then it’s so normal for them, because authentic content is so expensive and “right phrases”, “ideas” are the safe way to sound good, yet not invest too much time.
    – Also, he keeps talking about disruptive agency, but everything he says is the opposite of disruptive – basically he wanted to make money with his agency and sound cool, so he tries to coin his agency “Disruptive”, but instead the agency is just doing a niche thing that is nothing new, even in 2010..

I guess I’m disappointed because of the value for the money, it just doesn’t deliver. Sad!

Also, I might be harsh because I’ve been working in account management for almost 7 years and most of the things he keeps rambling about are common sense. I guess for a novice this might be a great start – maybe!
