Perfect and precise, good quick guide to use everyday.
by Sorochi
It’s very useful and portable. I like having it on me during placement.
by P. Stamp
This is more of a ring-bound notebook than a book, and only 80 pages long. I guess it is easy to slip into your pocket for when at work.
Has the basic groups such as steroids and anti-depressants with the drugs listed in that category. However, there is no A-Z, so if you have the name of the drug and need to see what it does – it’s useless!

Practical and easy to use
by Mr. D. Davidson
contents page could be better and a decent drugs cross ref at the back to allow page number etc would have been a must for me, 4 stars as it is a good reference even though you have to be able to recognise which drug is for what condition and then look up the condition at the contents page at the front. The problem being on the road treating patients via the ambulance service most patients have multiple conditions and lots of drugs….. next revision please add a drug cross reference.

Working as a pharmacist, I was looking for a handy and concise summary of drug facts to use as a quick work reference. Most reference books I’ve come across are unwieldy, bulky and impractical to carry around. Not any more! I absolutely love this book for many reasons:
– it’s compact and slim, fitting easily into almost any pocket
– despite its tiny portable size, the lettering remains readable and clear
– it’s spiral-bound which means I can read every page with ease while on the go
– the pages are laminated so they are easy to wipe clean
– the information is concise, selecting the most important points for each drug group
– it contains clear easy-to-read tables and charts
– it highlights pertinent counselling points e.g. side effects
There are some errors in the text e.g. INR is referred to as ‘international normalised ration’, rather than ‘ratio’. COPD is listed as ‘chronic obtrusive pulmonary disease’, rather than ‘obstructive’. And the occasional American spelling of drugs creeps in from time to time (e.g. acyclovir instead of aciclovir), which may throw off students who use this book as a reference.
But as the author has clearly stated, this book is intended as a guide, not a replacement, for more substantial texts like the BNF. Ultimately, I love its portable size, its useful summaries, its inclusion of drugs AND brand names, and the care and thought that’s gone into its overall design. I highly recommend this as a tool not only for nurses but pharmacists too!

Great book with information for a student nurse
by Shane Fenton
Bought as aide memoir for Return to Nursing Course. Excellent size for pocket, can be wiped down which is good from infection control point of view. Lots of useful information, I’m old school and don’t google everything on my phone and whilst it obviously doesn’t replace BNF but it is useful to have on hand. Good value for money.
