I’m afraid I looked through this book and frankly it made me want to put straight back down and not pick it up again. This is not a book that is written to cook from and treasure, this is a book, for me, that will end up on the shelf gathering dust. The few recipes that were the sort of comforting generous Italian dishes were ones that had been in other books we owned and had cooked and eaten and enjoyed for many years and the rest seemed not enticing to cook, suffice to say that I will be returning this book back to Amazon.

This is a fantastic book, utterly enticing from the first recipe to the last. If you are a fan of authentic Tuscan food, then this book is a must-have.

A well-executed and refreshing take on the Italian cookbook with beautiful typeface and binding. Russell Norman has written this cookbook to be read cover to cover with each recipe lending little handy notes for the next. It feels like Russell’s personality and passion is right there with me reading. I LOVE that the recipes include suggested uses for leftover food highlighting the important focus on sustainability in cooking. These are often comical too although no spoilers here. Each recipe is well described with beautiful pictures and fits well into the book’s focus on simplicity and excellent ingredients. I hadn’t heard of ‘Bratto’ as a restaurant until today but I look forward to visiting soon and making the delights jumping off the pages!

Excellent book and brilliant to see a number of the restaurant dishes here in recipe form. Have loved eating at Brutto and I’m excited to cook it at home now too! Well done Russell and team – pure brilliance!
