I have read almost every book written by Stephen Leather and loved nearly all of them, and Rio Grande Night (Jack Nightingale Book 11) is no exception. However, as an ex-smoker who used to be on 40 strong ‘internationals’ a day, I really dislike the constant smoking and promotion of one particular brand of cigarettes. I know from my own personal experience just how very hard it is to give up cigarettes, and it is not something I ever want to try again as I doubt I could give up again if I were to recommence smoking. I do not have an issue with a fictional character having an occasional cig, but in this series it is excessive and if I did not know better may even be a paid promotion – though I sincerely hope not. Great book, great series, I just hate the constant and unnecessary smoking.

I think it could have been better,but I’m not an author

James from previous books in the series. He haphazardly managed to avoid death, but it was there at every turn.
Enjoyed book but story line very similar.

For anyone who follows the adventures of Jack Nightingale this is a good read, but not one of his best. Here’s hoping that if there are any more then the story is not so predictable. A very weak storyline.
