Real-Time Video Content for Virtual Production & Live Entertainment: A Learning Roadmap for an Evolving Practice
Real-Time Video Content for Virtual Production & Live Entertainment looks at the evolution of current software and hardware, how these tools are used, and how to plan for productions dependent on real-time content.
From rock concerts to theatre, live television broadcast to film production, art installations to immersive experiences, the book outlines the various applications of real-time video content – the intersection of gaming and performance that is revolutionizing how films are made and how video content is created for screens. Rather than render out a fixed video file, new tools allow for interactive video content that responds to audience activity, camera position, and performer action in real time. Combining software renderers with environmental information, video content is generated nearly instantaneously to simulate depth, creating a new world of Virtual Production. This book provides an overview of the current software and hardware used to create real-time content while also reviewing the various external technologies the real-time content is dependent upon. Case studies from industry experts appear in each chapter to reinforce the tools described, establish industry practice, and provide insight on a complex and rapidly growing discipline.
Real-Time Video Content for Virtual Production & Live Entertainment prepares students and practitioners for a future working with real-time technologies and informs current entertainment technology professionals how to rethink about their old roles using these new tools.
The book includes access to a companion website featuring web-based and video resources that expand on topics covered in the text. Each chapter has a unique page that points to example material, video presentations, and professional studies on chapter topics. You can visit the companion website at rtv-book.com.

Stranger Than Fiction: The Life of Edgar Wallace, the Man Who Created King Kong
‘It is impossible not to be thrilled by Edgar Wallace.’ So said the blurbs of Wallace’s own books.
Indeed, he was a prolific author of over 170 books, translated into more than thirty languages. More films were made from his books than any other twentieth-century writer, and in the 1920s a quarter of all books read in England were written by him. His success is written in black and white, but his life got off to an inauspicious start.
Edgar Wallace, the illegitimate son of a travelling actress, rose from poverty in Victorian England to become the most popular author in the world and a global celebrity of his age.
Famous for his thrillers, with their fantastic plots, in many ways Wallace did not write his most exciting story: he lived it, and here Neil Clark eloquently tells his tale to allow you to live it too.

The Last Mogul: Lew Wasserman, Mca, and the Hidden History of Hollywood
The reviewer of the Boston Globe said point blank: “Over the years, I’ve read hundreds of books on Hollywood and the movie business, and this one is right at the top.” As the elusive, tyrannical head of the Music Corporation of America (MCA) until the 1990s, Lew Wasserman was the most powerful and feared man in show business for more than half a century. His career spanned the entire history of the movies, from the silent era to the present, and he was guru to Alfred Hitchcock, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, and Jimmy Stewart, and to a new generation of filmmakers beginning with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. For more than four years, Dennis McDougal interviewed over 350 people who knew the man with the giant dark horn-rimmed glasses, colleagues, relatives, rivals, and drew on tens of thousands of pages of documents to produce this extraordinary and first-ever portrait of a legend and his times, a book that the New York Times Book Review called “thoroughly reported and engrossing” and that the Daily News called, simply, “a bombshell.”Read more

Wedding Videography Start to Finish
Wedding production is unique in that every shot must be obtained in a single take, as in documentary filmmaking, but the client expects the finished product to look like a feature film, with perfect capture of every moment. Getting good-looking footage, while fighting problems such as loud settings, uncontrollable light and rapid scene changes, make wedding videography very challenging compared to other types of filmmaking. “”Wedding Videography: Start to Finish”” is the first technical guide that explains how to balance the expectations of the bridal couple with the realities of single-take shooting. These discrepancies will be explained through lessons in gear selection, shot set-up, how to work in poorly lit conditions, and how to make the best of bad angles, audio and light. The book further explains how to improve and stylize footage through editing and post production techniques. With “”Wedding Videography: Start to Finish,”” video amateurs and professionals new to wedding coverage alike will find a complete guide on every aspect of becoming a successful wedding videographer, from selecting production gear and software through the shooting and editing process, and even the business aspects of the wedding industry including client expectations, wedding etiquette, legal issues and product delivery.Read more
