Dancing Shapes is a 2021 Independent Press Award Winner.
The book provides an inside gorgeous glimpse into one ballerina’s journey. Konora, whose career has been sidelined by COVID-19, leads readers through warm-up steps, a basic ballet technique lesson, and an exploration of movement and form.

* explore movement concepts
* increase body awareness
* strengthen spatial perception and balance
* celebrate gratitude, the value of practice, and making healthy choicesWhat Moms and Dads Said:
Gorgeous! Inspirational! Dancing girls alllllll over my backyard!!!…while looking at the cover with all those poses said, “I can do that one. I can’t do that one. I can do that one. I can’t do that one…” Then she started trying them. The pictures alone inspired her…
As soon as we read something like, “Can you try…” she would hop right up and try it…
She thinks the book is just right for her age [9], not too young or old feeling…
[This 11-year old] thought it was easy to follow and liked all the interesting shape pictures, she liked that there were “challenges” to try…

Indian Sign Language (Native American)
Plains Indians from different tribes speaking different languages were nevertheless able to communicate facts and feelings of considerable complexity when they met. They used a language composed of gestures made almost entirely with the hands and fingers, probably the most highly developed gesture language to be found in any part of the world.
With this book, you will find it simple to use this language, which the author learned in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, principally from Sioux Indians in Wyoming. Drawings and short descriptions make clear the proper positions and motions of the hands to convey the meaning of over 870 alphabetically arranged common words — hungry, camp, evening, angry, fire, laugh, owl, cat, many times, brave, cold, heart, rain, spotted, together, river, etc. The words are then used in sample sentences. There are also brief sections on the pictography and ideography of the Sioux and Ojibway tribes, and on smoke signals.
This is a book for anyone who wants to learn or teach Indian sign language — scouts, school teachers, camp counselors, scout leaders, parents, linguists, and students of Indian culture. To help counselors and teachers, the last chapters give instructions on how to conduct the Indian ceremony for opening a council fire, an Indian initiation ceremony, and suggestions for sign language tests and exercises.Read more

Harry will need powerful magic and true friends as he explores Voldemort’s darkest secrets, and Dumbledore prepares him to face his destiny…

Books Make Good Pets
Books make good pets and don’t need going to the vet.
You don’t have to keep them on a lead or throw them a stick.
They’ll wag their words whenever you flick their dog-eared pages.
Even howl an ancient tale for the inward-listening ear.Did you know that a book can take you anywhere? You only need to turn the pages of a story, and in a moment, you and your book could be crossing the waves in a pirate ship… or diving with mermaids… or even snoozing with a dragon.
Books really DO make good pets! Why don’t you peep inside this one, and take your mind on an adventure?
This delightful original picture book poem is the perfect gift for anyone who delights in the magic of a good book. Agard’s evocative, lyrical style is perfectly complemented with illustrations by Momoko Abe, whose colourful visuals add character, transporting the reader into an enchanting world of imagination.
