You Can Be An Actor Too! (Acting for Beginners Book 1)
Does your child want to be an actor? Has he or she caught the acting bug? Do they know what type of actor they want to be? Do they know everything that is involved in becoming an actor? In this children’s book, your child will learn through poetry and rhyme how they can be an actor too, if they know just what to do.Emma Rayne Lyle is a child actress best known for her roles as ‘Bridget’ in the feature film “Jessica Darling’s It List”, ‘Nicole Bloom’ in the feature film “Why Stop Now”, and Emily Reddy in the feature film I Don’t Know How She Does It which earned her the Young Artist Award as Best Young Actress Age Ten and Under.
She’s worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Emma and her mother Nyna have been working side by side in the film and television business for the last ten years and they have learned a thing or two about the industry.
Together they created an acting book written specifically for kids who want to become actors but don’t know how. Many of the “how to be an actor books” are written by agents, acting coaches and managers – people who have not experienced what it is like to be the parent of a child actor and who have not been a child actor. Many acting books are full of useless text and fluff and by the time you finish the book, you still have no idea where to start.
Ain’t nobody got time for that! Especially moms and dads.
This little book is chockfull and let’s your little one know that no matter where they live, they can be an actor too.

Learning British Sign Language : British Sign Language
British Sign Language (BSL) is used in the United
Kingdom. The number of Deaf people in the UK using
BSL has been put at about 50,000; there are in addition many more hearing people who use BSL to
communicate with Deaf users.
Sign languages are not related to spoken languages and BSL is completely different, for example, from
American Sign Language.
Sign language conveys meaning through the use of
space and movement of the hands, body, face and
head.
We know that many hearing people are keen to learn
BSL (it is a very popular evening class course, for
example). But there is a lack of good teaching materials written in English for hearing learners of BSL, which this course fills.Read more

Indian Sign Language (Native American)
Plains Indians from different tribes speaking different languages were nevertheless able to communicate facts and feelings of considerable complexity when they met. They used a language composed of gestures made almost entirely with the hands and fingers, probably the most highly developed gesture language to be found in any part of the world.
With this book, you will find it simple to use this language, which the author learned in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, principally from Sioux Indians in Wyoming. Drawings and short descriptions make clear the proper positions and motions of the hands to convey the meaning of over 870 alphabetically arranged common words — hungry, camp, evening, angry, fire, laugh, owl, cat, many times, brave, cold, heart, rain, spotted, together, river, etc. The words are then used in sample sentences. There are also brief sections on the pictography and ideography of the Sioux and Ojibway tribes, and on smoke signals.
This is a book for anyone who wants to learn or teach Indian sign language — scouts, school teachers, camp counselors, scout leaders, parents, linguists, and students of Indian culture. To help counselors and teachers, the last chapters give instructions on how to conduct the Indian ceremony for opening a council fire, an Indian initiation ceremony, and suggestions for sign language tests and exercises.Read more

Gay & Lesbian History for Kids: The Century-Long Struggle for LGBT Rights, with 21 Activities (For Kids series Book 60)
2016 Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People ListLambda Literary Award Finalist
On the Rainbow Book List
Who transformed George Washington’s demoralized troops at Valley Forge into a fighting force that defeated an empire? Who cracked Germany’s Enigma code and shortened World War II? Who successfully lobbied the US Congress to outlaw child labor? And who organized the 1963 March on Washington? Ls, Gs, Bs, and Ts, that’s who.
Given today’s news, it would be easy to get the impression that the campaign for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) equality is a recent development, but it is only the final act in a struggle that started more than a century ago. The history is told through personal stories and firsthand accounts of the movement’s key events, like the 1950s “Lavender Scare,” the Stonewall Inn uprising, and the AIDS crisis. Kids will learn about civil rights mavericks, like Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld, founder of the first gay rights organization; Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin, who turned the Daughters of Bilitis from a lesbian social club into a powerhouse for LGBT freedom; Christine Jorgensen, the nation’s first famous transgender; and Harvey Milk, the first out candidate to win a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Also chronicled are the historic contributions of famous LGBT individuals, from General von Steuben and Alan Turing to Jane Addams and Bayard Rustin, among others. This up-to-date history includes the landmark Supreme Court decision making marriage equality the law of the land. Twenty-one activities enliven the history and demonstrate the spirited ways the LGBT community has pushed for positive social change.
Kids can: write a free verse poem like Walt Whitman; learn “The Madison” line dance; remember a loved one with a quilt panel; perform a monologue from The Laramie Project; make up a song parody; and much more.
