£11.50£12.30 (-7%)

101 Dog Tricks is the largest trick book on the market and the only one presenting fullcolor photos of each trick and its training steps. The stepbystep approach, difficulty rating, and prerequisites, allow readers to start training immediately. Tips and troubleshooting boxes cover common problems, while “buildon” ideas suggest more complicated tricks which build on each new skill. No special tools (such as clickers) or knowledge of specific training methods are required. Trick training is a great way to bond with your dog and help him integrate into your family. It keeps him mentally and physically challenged and helps to establish paths of communication between you. Many tricks build skills needed for common dog sports, dog dancing, and dog therapy work. It’s every dog lover’s privilege that Kyra and Chalcy took time from their performing schedule to share their secrets in 101 Dog Tricks.

This book is fantastic, possibly the best dog training book we have ever set eyes upon. We were recommended to purchase this by a very experienced dog trainer and he said he has used it with all 8 of his dogs in the past and never failed.
At just 4 months old, our Cockapoo puppy could sit, lay down, paw, spin, hi5 and stay all thanks to this book and is still progressing with playing dead, finding things, bringing things, dropping things, rolling over and still flourishing at 10 months, he shocks people with how many tricks he can do and they all think it’s due to expensive training sessions, but it was this amazing book!
The instructions are very clear, the introduction is also very reassuring, especially if this is for a new puppy or dog. There are top tips on every trick and also alternatives if this method isn’t working for you, there are many reassuring encouragements throughout it and all 101 tricks are marked out of 5 paws of difficulty which progress through the book.
Many nice and colourful pictures are included throughout, the pages feel good quality and it is definitely worth the money.
I would certainly recommend this to a friend!

Even though this was about £12 when I bought it, I’ve found this to be a feature-packed book well worth the money. We have a young golden retriever who learned most of the basics quite quickly, so hoped that this would teach her moves or ‘tricks’ which built upon the basics. As the name of the book suggests, there are plenty of tricks which go through each step and how you can troubleshoot any problems you might have getting your dog to learn these tricks.

My only complaint is that it’s tailored more towards older dogs than younger dogs. There are some basic moves in there, but there’s scattered around, and there are some key important ‘tricks’ which i’d hoped it would explain, which it didn’t. I appreciate why the book was organised the way it was as well, but felt like it might have been easier to just organize them all based on their difficulty – so that you could progress through them slowly, instead of zipping back and forth between different chapters of the book.

Despite my complaints, i’d still recommend this. It’s just disappointing that it could have been EVEN better than it was.

I was a little unsure of this book as I was not keen on the idea of turning my dog into a stunt dog or becoming a ‘look how clever my dog’ is owner. Thankfully the ability to look inside before you buy allowed me to see the value of the book and look past the title. It starts from the basic commands and allows the reader to go as far as they, or their dog, may wish to go. The pictorial stages for each command are clear and easy to understand while the ‘what to expect’ and trouble shooting sections for each command are extremely useful and often missed in training books. I recently homed a dog from a rescue centre who was abandoned and clearly had some patchy training for while he walked well other basic commands were not understood. He also did not know how to play. This book has been a real gem and luckily he soon learnt to respond and to come using his new name (as his first name was unknown) which was a real plus when he was spooked a few weeks later on a walk and backed out of his harness and bolted. If it had now been for my purchase of this book I may never have seen him again.

If you need a training book for your dog this really should be at the top of your list.

Simple to understand, backed up by clear and again simple illustrations and photos. It also structures the tricks in an order – later tricks build on earlier ones, e.g. “shake” gets dog to touch treat with his paw, later on in the book the dog nails the ‘three cup trick’ when owner tells it to “shake” … dog touches correct cup for trest to be revealed! Great fun for owner and dog, it even has ‘common problems’ on each page.

I bought this book whilst brimming with anticipation of getting my new Labrador pup Mia and by the time we collected her I had read through and had a good plan of what I’d like to achieve with her (maybe high expectations 😉 ). The book is well set out, beginning with basic skills ,sit down etc to dancing and tidying up toys, each exercise/trick is broken down into nice easy to follow steps. Tricks are labelled with difficulty ratings allowing you to pick and choose easily depending on your dogs ability. People may play down the value of tricks but they are a great way of supplementing obedience training, increasing learning and interaction time and it’s great fun and a nice way to show what you’ve achieved together. This book is a great supplementary to your obedience training book and deserves a place on your bookshelf. If you haven’t got one grab a clicker too they’re a great way to mark correct behaviour for reward association. Have lots of fun together!

We adopted a new dog and wanted something which would help us bond quickly and easily. Well I got what I wished for with this book. 101 Dog Tricks couldn,t be set out any better from start to finish it takes you on a journey with your best friend and is so easy to follow. The first part of the book gives good advice on starting to use the book and playing the games, you can then start at the beginning and work through from the basics such as sit, lay down, wait etc all the way through 101 games to such as learning your friend to play basket ball, weave poles or dance. It is also set into chapters such as basics, games, canine freestyle (dancing) agility etc. Within the first few days of starting this book my friend and I were and are still hooked at what we will play next and we have totally bonded. This book should be every dog owners bible and there shouldn’t be any need for any other book.
