Wok cooking is usually quick anyway, and this book shows you how to replicate the taste and flavours of your favourite take-away. Granted some of the spice flavourings may not be available in your friendly corner shop, but if you don’t have an Asian store store nearby, I’ve never yet failed to find what I want online, and usually on Amazon. If you don’t want to spend out on them, usually a substitute will work ok – just won’t have exactly the taste you’re looking for, but does that matter that much? No pretty pictures in this book, which I regard as a plus – I don’t need a picture to tell me whether it tastes ok or not. If you like wok cooking, then you’ll find this book useful.

I am vegetarian, so takeaway choices are always limited and invariably disappointing. I have recently bought several books in this vein, all of which use ingredients not available in my small town. This book , however, actually delivers what it promises, simple recipies using easily available ingredients. Substituting Quorn for chicken produces far better results than available from any of my local takeaways and it can be cooked more quickly than they deliver.
