Just the inspiration I needed. Nothing more. No waffle, just common sense hints.

Great book, a wealth of useful tips for the aspiring urban sketcher. However the same book, published by Apple Press, is half the price and also available on Amazon. Go figure!!

I really like the way it helps you to see your subject more clearly and work out where to start and how to build your drawing up logically. You can dip into any of the chapters to learn and refresh your memory as you draw. It makes something that I found a very complicated process much more manageable. The tips on perspective and using light and shadow really help you to capture the whole scene, while the section on key architectural elements is great for quick practice sketches and helping you to hone in on the details.

The size is good for taking out sketching, very clear illustrations and easy to follow exercises with no fuss. Loving this book, it’s emphasis being on the pure enjoyment of sketching. A grab it and go approach which as a procrastinator I love!

By page eight I could not resist, so I grabbed a ball point pen & started sketching, the book inspires you to do that. Most other books bore or scare you in their first few pages with what equipment you need and the vast number of mediums out there to buy.
