This book is an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every single word. This is Harper Bliss at her very best. The writing is absolutely amazing as are the characters. I was hooked from the very first page rooting for Izzy from the very start.

Really enjoyed this book, a little bit predictable but throughly enjoyable. Easy to read and you find yourself thinking “just one more chapter” and next thing you know it’s 2am on a week day thinking you should really get some sleep. Recommend to anyone wanting a little bit of an escape during these strange times

It’s rare to find a book that challenges and captivates all at the same time. However, Harper Bliss has achieved this with this book. I have read a significant amount of her books, and this one is far and away her best. The topic it broaches is difficult and challenging but there is a gradual hope within it .
I read a lot of books – and I mean a lot – of different genres and topics. This book is way ahead at the top of my top 10 of those that I have read in the last 12 months.

This is Harper’s best novel yet, it was thought provoking, emotional but above all made me feel appreciative about life.

The blurb made it seem like a book vastly different from the majority of same tropes, some written better than others, on my shelves. One chapter in and I am delighted. A different plot arc laid out, and laid out with a lightness of touch that is pleasing. The pleasure continued when the other main character is introduced. Again obvious current common tropes are avoided. No age gap, not enemies to lovers but rather appears like it’s going to be a battle of mature, successful ladies. I’m very much up for that. This book doesn’t read to me like a typical Harper Bliss. There are definite Bliss touches (heat) but the writing style, the layout, the subject, the substance and the freshness I am loving and would love to see more of this Bliss in future books. I don’t mean this is a heavy book, tho the subject could be, but rather it is substantial. A plate of porridge with jumbo oats (fuller for longer) rather than a low fat yogurt. (Perhaps enjoyable at the time but doesn’t last). The resolution, or change of plan, when it happened, happened quite quickly. I think that is the point tho, when something is worth living for, it just is. Hope is stronger than hopeless. A good life lesson. I thoroughly recommend this book.
There is also some food for thought with regards recent debates about what a writer (tho in the terms of this book, performer owes their public. “They don’t just pay for your song and your performance” and “They pay for what you mean to them”. I will think about that.

For anyone who has struggled with finding who they are after a major change and the point to their lives, this is a must read.
The characters are so well placed and you really get into Izzy’s head and go through her amazing journey with her. I must admit to be very quiet whilst reading this but I’m so glad I did and thank the courage of the author for tackling such a sensitive issue with such grace.

Having read every one of Harper Bliss’s books, A Breathless Place must be in her top 3. The blurb hooks you into a continuous page turner that doesn’t let you down. A difficult subject, however, written with such empathy, Harper Bliss has another massive hit on her hands that must have been difficult to write. Author’s note, once you have completed the book, is a must not miss.
