From living the high life to hitting rock bottom in the space of a few hours . . .
Marketing guru Amelia has it all. She’s tied the knot with Declan, the love of her life, ready to start their perfect future together in London after an idyllic honeymoon in Italy.
Until Amelia loses her job.
And returns home to find a note from Declan, demanding a divorce.
Now she has no job, no husband and no reason to stay in London.
The Isle of Arran seems like the perfect place to lick her wounds and start again. If there’s anywhere that will help her heal, it’s this beautiful Scottish island.
Then life throws her another curveball in the form of dreamy Scotsman Fergus. His dark eyes make her weak at the knees.
But this is not the time for romance.
Despite Amelia’s best efforts, she finds herself drawn to Fergus. He has his own tragic past, but he makes Amelia feel alive again. Until a face from the past threatens to upend everything . . .
Will Amelia realize her heart belongs to Arran . . . And perhaps to a certain dark-eyed Scotsman?
This utterly heart-warming Scottish romance is perfect for fans of Holly Martin, Julie Shackman, Veronica Henry or Jenny Colgan.

I did enjoy this story which is set on the Scottish Island of Arran. It had everything you would want from a good Christmas romance. Great characters, a good back story, a wonderful setting and festive fun.
Amelia thinks her life is perfect until it all falls apart, she loses her job and her husband walks out on her. So she takes a job as far away from her life as possible on a Scottish Island, not really knowing what the job or her new life will entail. I really liked Amelia and quickly became involved in her story. Edie her new boss and landlady is wonderful, she has her own sad story but is quite determined to get on with life. Then there is Fergus, a local who is Edie’s friend and who also needs a new outlook on life. Together these three support each other as they discover a way forward. Add in some great locals and ghastly ex-husband and the cast is set. These characters are well written and easy to relate to.
This is such a nice story, I didn’t want it to end and, personally, I think it could have been done with another chapter or two, or at least an epilogue. Saying that it didn’t really detract from my enjoyment of this well written book.

I read this because I’ve been to Arran several times, and twice stayed in Lamlash – I agree that it’s one of the most attractive places I’ve ever visited.
However the story was so lightweight as to be almost non-existent. There were also some annoying points; much was made of Amelia’s allergy to latex, yet, she used a neoprene wetsuit without any ill effects – I know they are often lined, but still! Also in her letter to Christine, Edie describes the sun setting in the east!

During one fateful day Amelia loses her job and arrives home to discover that her husband has walked away from their short marriage. Needing to get far away, she packs a single bag and travels to the Isle of Arran for a temporary position to promote the island’s tourism. Living on Arran is the complete opposite to her life in London. Amelia is welcomed into the island community finding friendship and support after the shock of her failed marriage.
The story line was credible, the characters were likeable and believable. Whilst the plot isn’t particularly original, what makes this book special is the location. Arran isn’t exotic but it’s really well described, the places mentioned are all genuine. I wouldn’t be surprised if some locals were included merely with a change of name.
A recommended read.

An easy winter read set on the lovely Isle of Arran. From a sad beginning leading to support, friendship, problems solved and romance, this book was read in one sitting.

As with most books of this genre you know it’s a case of boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after.
This book however give some other lovely characters, especially Edie who has a pivotal role.
Add in the fabulous setting and you have a thoroughly enjoyable book.
