Sarah J. Maas’s sexy, richly imagined A Court of Thorns and Roses series continues with the journey of Feyre’s fiery sister, Nesta…
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly – proud, swift to anger and slow to forgive. And since the war – since being made High Fae against her will – she’s struggled to forget the horrors she endured and find a place for herself within the strange and deadly Night Court.
The person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred, winged warrior who is there at Nesta’s every turn. But her temper isn’t the only thing Cassian ignites. And when they are forced to train in battle together, sparks become flame.
As the threat of war casts its shadow over them once again, Nesta and Cassian must fight monsters from within and without if they are to stand a chance of halting the enemies of their court. But the ultimate risk will be searching for acceptance – and healing – in each other’s arms.

Probably my favourite in this series. But only because of the story built through the previous books. I shall miss reading of their lives

My heart has been carried through this series and I cannot describe just how grateful I am to have laughed and cried and tore through the pages escaping into these fantastical lands.
The themes hit home so much with Silver Flame that I practically highlighted the entire book. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing this story with us, I am so excited to be back into reading and read even more of your work.

When I started this book of the series, I didn’t know what to expect. But I was excited to see how Nesta and Cassian would come together.
But, I’ve got to say, this book wasn’t as good as the others. It just seemed to be missing something. Towards the end of each of the ACOTAR books, all hell breaks loose, but in Under the Mountain in ACOTAR it was more detail and it was more gripping than the Blood Rite in ACOSF. Which genuinely shocked me because it’s more than twice the size of the first book, so if anything, I expected more.
For example, when Gwyn and Nesta try to run from the darkness in the library, there is not significant development from that possible threat. Bryaxis not longer lived there, so I thought, oh cool, there might be more to uncover here, alongside the trove they’re looking at. But there really wasn’t much – Nesta just ended up managing the darkness. It was never a ongoing entity to issue within the book.
I also think that the Blood Rite was very similar to the Hunger Games, so honestly it didn’t really stand out to me as something shocking or new. It felt like both franchises merged into one book.
I also really couldn’t stand Nesta for about 75% of the book. I could see that she had her own issues and that her being ‘Lady Death’ as Cassian put it, would obviously make her a prickly character. But I just don’t think the execution of her developing, and growing was done well enough. It really didn’t do justice to her. She loved her friends, and was close to Gwyn and Emerie, but she was still – and forgive me for saying this – a total bitch to her sisters and the rest of the Night Court. She only truly behaved as a sister in the end when she saved Nyx and Feyre.
I’ve seen a lot of people say this was their favourite of the series, but I unfortunately just can’t say the same.
And what’s with the lack of Mor?!

This book is amazing! It’s basically a massive redemption arc for one of the characters and has some really funny bits heart warming bits and tear inducing scenes. I cried for like the last 20 pages but it was so so worth it!

I have now read all books in the series, and to say I enjoyed them would be a bit of an understatement. No book has ever kept my attention as these books have. I’m lost for words, and sad because it is finished, I hope that another book is released, I’m having withdrawals already.
Now only a fantastic story will do that to you .
