A Dance with the Fae Prince

Cinderella meets THE CRUEL PRINCE in this standalone fantasy romance about a human girl and her marriage to the prince of the fae.

She knew her hand in marriage would be sold. She had no idea a fae prince was the buyer.

Katria swore she’d never fall in love. She’s seen what ‘love’ means through the cruelty of her family. So when she’s married off to the mysterious Lord Fenwood for a handsome price, all Katria wants is a better life than the one she’s leaving. Feelings are off the table.

But her new husband makes not falling in love difficult.

As their attraction begins to grow, so too do the oddities within her new life: strange rules, screams in the night, and attacks by fae that Katria never thought were real. When she witnesses a ritual not meant for human eyes, Katria finds herself spirited away to the land of Midscape.

Surviving the fae wilds as a human is hard enough. Katria must survive as a human who accidently pilfered the magic of ancient kings – magic a bloodthirsty king is ready to kill her for in order to keep his stolen throne – and her new husband is the rightful heir in hiding.

The power to save the fae is in her hands. But who will save her from a love she vowed never to feel?

A Dance with the Fae Prince is a *standalone novel* inspired by the tales of Psyche and Eros, as well as Cinderella, with a happily ever after ending. It’s perfect for romantic fantasy readers who enjoyed of A Court of Silver Flames and An Enchantment of Ravens. A Dance with the Fae Prince features a slow-burn romance, swoon-worthy couple, and steaminess that ranges from simmering to sizzling.

This was another excellent story from Elise Kova, the characters are full and the world is somewhere I want to keep reading about, the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is it triggered me quite a bit reading about the emotional as well as physical abuse the heroine survived and the emotional issues that it left her with and how damaging that, on top of all that she was still kept getting treated as worthless and in the way. But the upset this caused me is probably more testament to my own emotional scars than anything else, but the skill of the author is definitely there to hint at the depths of emotional pain without going over the top and it becomes less believable. These were completely believable characters even in a larger than life world.

I am absolutely in love with this series of books. I love the characters so much. They all have such depth to them. I also like how they all kinda tie in together, too.
Well written and hard to put down.

A Dance with the Fae Prince is the second in Elsie Kova’s Married to Magic series. It follows Katria, a girl who is treated poorly by her family and is consequently sold into marriage as the groom is offering a lot of money.
It sounds very similar to Cinderella and in a way it is, but where it deviates is when Katria gets to the mysterious manor in the woods, where only a manservant and his lord are stationed. Her husband to be sets out some rather strange terms, which is basically that she won’t want for anything but she isn’t allowed to see him.
Katria is, of course, curious about her husband to be, so proceeds to try and get to know him better by inviting him for evening chats over wine, however, they have to sit with their backs to each other. I liked how they slowly started to get to know each other over these talks, allowing the previously brusque and uncaring man to warm up to her.
Unfortunately for Katria, her husband suddenly disappears with no warning, so she goes out to find him, and discovers that he is Fae. They then travel into the Fae lands, which are dangerous for Katria and her companions aren’t exactly the kindest bunch you’d come across, in fact, they take bets as to how long she’ll last on the walk!
Eventually though, they do get to the Fae kingdom, and Katria slowly learns that Fae are trustworthy after all and shouldn’t all be considered as violent and horrible.
I enjoyed all the scrapes they get into throughout their adventures, especially the inclusion of the ninja like Faeries who are pursuing them through the forest.
Overall, it’s a good read, but I personally preferred A Deal with the Elf King. However, I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the Married to Magic series.

“I want to shatter together and fall like silvery arcs of shooting stars as we descend from heaven of our making”

A Dance with a Fae Prince has all the great troupes, with amazing characters and great world building throughout.

    – Cinderella feel
    – Forced Marriage
    – Slow Burn Romance
    – Fae Prince

I enjoyed the main character Katria, she has some great development through out and it was great to see her slowly becoming more sure of herself and learning to accept who she is and what she is capable of. I loved her determination to always be useful even when she was really out of her depth.

I did enjoy Davian too, but not as much I loved the Elf King. I think maybe the chemistry was a little more on point for me in the Elf King. Where as I hoped for a little more angst between Katria and Davian, but that’s just me! They still worked really well together and I love how Davian was so assuring and straight with his feelings.
“This man makes me want dangerous things”

The ending and reveal was a little predictable, I guessed early on in the book what was going to happen. That being said it didn’t spoil anything for me, it was a really satisfying ending.

An easy and light read, I love how Elise creates these magical worlds that just suck you straight in.
I’m loving the book covers to this world ‘Married to Magic’ they are truly stunning and I can’t wait to see what will be on the cover of book three, plus vampires are making a comeback! I’m so excited for that.

This is more about woman empowerment than a grabbing love story. It does start like one and my god did I like the first part… before she goes into that fire. All that build up went completely flat from that point on, I was so disappointed on what followed! Expected something else completely. I really struggled to keep my interest and keep on reading. So if you want to read about a weak pathetic prince (“please take pity on me and tell me why don’t you love me”) and an annoying bitter FMC (“love is pain”), then this book is for you. I’m into strong male characters and female characters who are excited to fall in love.

***SPOILERS***The prince here can’t fly, ride a horse, be a good leader and decision maker, and the FMC motto throughout the entire book is “I will never love anyone” and “love is pain”. The fact that the guy gets nothing in the end left me dumbfounded.???? No power and no crown… After all that… seriously? ???? Other things that were unnecessary: the fact that she can smell lies in a world that NOONE can lie was so unnecessary to mention every 3 pages. Just as often as Joyce’s name came up. Once every 10 pages.☠️????
Gave it 3☆ because it wasn’t completely bad but… I think I’m being generous.
