In the snowy perfection of Aspen, the White family gathers for youngest daughter Rosie’s whirlwind Christmas wedding.

After living apart for the last six months, the last thing they need is to be trapped together in an irresistibly romantic winter wonderland.
Rosie’s older sister Katie is also dreading the wedding. Worried that impulsive, sweet-hearted Rosie is making a mistake, Katie is determined to save her sister from herself. If only the irritatingly good-looking best man, Jordan, would stop interfering with her plans…

There’s nothing I enjoy more in the build up to Christmas than a gorgeous, festive read and Sarah Morgan never fails to deliver on that front and this year is no exception with A Wedding in December. In her latest novel we’re taken to the beautiful setting of Aspen, Colorado for the surprise upcoming wedding of Rosie, youngest daughter of Maggie and Nick, after a whirlwind romance. A wedding should be such a special moment for everyone involved but what happens when everyone comes together, will the secrets and fears they’ve all been hiding come to light?
Sarah Morgan has a knack of creating characters that you become fully invested in and that’s definitely true for the three women in the White family, Maggie, Katie and Rosie. At first I was a little surprised at Katie’s reaction to the wedding news and her plan to put a stop to it but as her story unfolded, the more I began to understand why she was acting the way she was. Her ‘need’ to protect Rosie from heartache was a way to try and block out the pain she was feeling about her own situation. As for Rosie, I did wonder whether she was mature enough to be married as she seemed quite young and immature in her ways but her strength shone through when the time came for her to be there to support the others.
Maggie too was at a crossroads, not knowing what her future looked like and feeling that now that her daughters were grown up and had left the nest no-one needed her anymore, and in a job that she doesn’t love. I have to confess I didn’t really understand why Maggie and Nick had kept their split a secret from their daughters but totally understood their reasoning of not revealing it now at what should be the happiest day of their daughter’s life. The only trouble is that living a lie can create some embarrassing moments for all concerned especially when caught unawares…
The setting of Aspen was picture perfect and through her descriptive writing it sounded like a magical place to be at this time of year, the wintry scenes of dog sledging or speeding through the trails on a snow mobile made it somewhere I’d like to maybe visit one day. I particularly loved the idea of spending time in a log cabin or tree house, especially if there was someone like Jordan to spend time with.
A Wedding in December was just the tonic needed, it’s a complex tale of relationships, drama and romance with a smattering of comedic moments to lighten the load. Put your feet up, relax and unwind in front of the fire with a glass of mulled wine and this gorgeous tale, you won’t be disappointed.

I love the way the book was written, I wanted to carry on reading and not put it down…the characters were like able, good description of them and I could feel their happiness and sadness along the way. I could actually picture the places it was set in from the description of the surroundings. Great read I look forward to reading my next one. Thank you and keep writing Sarah…..

The White family are all keeping secrets from each other, but only to ensure they don’t worry each other. When Rosie, Maggie’s youngest daughter, announces she’s getting married to her boyfriend of only a few months, Dan, it causes a huge surprise and some shock waves that create more surprises. Not only is Rosie getting married, she’s getting married that Christmas, at Snowfall Lodge, a beautiful hotel in the mountains just outside of Aspen.
The White’s usually congregate at the family home each Christmas – Honeysuckle Cottage – so a few changes have to reluctantly take place. Rosie’s older sister Katie is adamant she’s going to go to Aspen to stop the wedding and change her sister’s mind, as she can’t believe Rosie can really know her husband to be so soon. Will spending time with each other in a snowy winter wonderland bring hidden secrets out into the open and what will the family make of Dan. Will there even be a Christmas wedding or will Rosie change her mind before the big day.
I’ve read a few other Sarah Morgan books and really enjoyed them. So i couldn’t wait to get lost in the pages of this one set during winter.
It felt like it was missing a little something that other Sarah Morgan books had. I can’t pin point what exactly, it just felt like it was without some heart or the usual warmth I’ve found in her past books.
It may just be me, as I’ve not had much luck with my Christmas books so far this winter. If you’ve ever read any Sarah Morgan books and enjoyed them, I wouldn’t say avoid, on the off chance it’s just me. If you’ve never read any of her books before, I wouldn’t recommend this to be the first book or hers that you pick up. She has written far better (well, in my humble opinion) books and if this was my first foray into her writing, I wouldn’t be rushing back to read anything else.
I wish I could write something more positive, so I’ll end on the locations. The descriptions of Colorado and Aspen were wonderful. They sounded like something you’d see inside a winter snow globe and the perfect place for a white Christmas in the mountains.
A Wedding in December is not one of her greatest but it’s still a good read and I would still recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good romantic and Christmassy book.
With thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the opportunity to read this ARC, in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Christmas books to me often feel rushed, overly commercialised or just too predictable.
Whilst of course this has a happy ending (apologies for the spoiler), I really enjoyed the variety of relationships and depth of each character.
I also very much identified with the overworked Londoner that is Katie, and found her character so relatable and interesting.
Really enjoyed it 🙂
