Accounting for Non-Accountants
£4.80
Accounting for Non-Accountants provides the perfect introduction to the basics of accounting and finance. Designed for non-specialists with little or no background in accounting, it guides readers through the maze of financial terms and accounting concepts and techniques in a clear and easy-to-follow style.
Now in its 11th edition, Accounting for Non-Accountants includes information on the UK GAAP accounting standards as well as an overview of current international standards, and updates including a new chapter on how competition, the financial markets and government economic policy can influence organizations. The book is structured clearly to provide in-depth understanding in three key areas: annual accounts (including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow and reporting standards); management accounting (costing, marginal costing and budgetary controls); and financial management (including the cost of capital, working capital, investment appraisal and performance analysis).
With updated online resources, including additional review questions for each chapter and a multiple choice question section, Accounting for Non-Accountants is ideal for beginners and provides an excellent grounding for those taking accountancy qualifications.

I have used this book as an unofficial textbook for my students from A Level to MBA Level. As providing an excellent guide to Accounting to both Non Accounting Students and students aiming for Chartered Accounting Level expertise. I first the 7th edition of this book and I have purchased two editions of this book since then. Both in the Kindel and Paper versions. If as too, I would be more than happy to provide the additional IT Software resources for this book too. E.g. MS Excel Business Models, I have developed and extended, around this book in my teaching of Accounting, Finance and Economics.

This is a book I could have done with when I set up my first company and no doubt it could still be a great companion when I have brain fade about something simple with accounting. Whilst being numerate, my eyes just glaze over at some of the details of accountancy. This is, therefore, a possible saviour and in its 11th edition it has been updated to keep pace with changes in accounting standards and business requirements.
It is written in a very clear and easy-to-understand manner (even if still, the accountancy-speak may not want to get pushed through my brain’s filter, through no fault of this book). It has everything that a new business owner needs to get going. It can also be great for those who must deal with elements of accounting for their work, as well as being an excellent resource for business students. It is competitively priced too.
There is not a lot more to add. The book covers the essentials of basic accounting and bookkeeping. It helps guide the reader to greater proficiency and even tries to make a dry, technical subject come to life. A great book for those who need it and a good reference or aide memoire for those whose memory could have slipped over time!
It does what it promises and then some!
