Looks like a great book bought for my son for Christmas.

There’s too many disconnects and errors for comfort. Following along with the exercises, the user suddenly comes across a non-sequitur, where the intended actions don’t actually fit the text. That’s all very well in a way, because it might cause the reader to become more creative rather than blindly and dumbly following the instructions without understanding them.
But take a look at Lesson C: Create a Campfire. Here, the text repeatedly refers to the lower-right corner of a rectangle, whereas the illustration clearly refers to the lower-left. Then it goes on to refer specifically to Illustrator’s “Skew tool”. So far as this frustrated reviewer can see, there is no such tool in Illustrator. But, of course, there is a “Shear” function, which can be used to skew the shape of an object. Did Jason Hoppe really want me to use Adobe’s own help function to find that out, or is this book really a “Complete Course and Compendium”?

I have been using this for a while now and I feel like it’s a great introduction to the software. I still have to look up the meaning of some words or buttons.
It comes complete with the class materials as well, which are just as easy to follow. I’d recommend this to anyone who’s looking at either refreshing themselves on the software or if you’re completely new to it.

Not finished this ebook yet but I bought it on the basis that I have used Jason Hoppe training online. He is one of the best and the book is not a disappointment. Full of practical exercises to learn Illustrator from the ground up. Highly recommended.
