Really enjoyed this book, it is beautifully illustrated and captures the worries of a soon to be big sibling very well. If you are adopting and have a birth child, this is a great book.

This book is so beautifully written and even better, it is adoption from a birth child’s point of view. There are no books I could find that were like this and written in a way a child could understand so this is perfect.

Adopting Alfred is a lovely book that gives genuine awareness of the thoughts and feelings a birth child may have during the adoption process. This would be an asset to anyone either going through the process, considering adoption or anyone wanting to support others in that situation. As someone who has not been part of this process, this book made me think of a few things I had never considered and has given me a little more insight into what a dear friend and her family may have encountered during their adoption journey. My child also enjoyed reading this book with me and we had a lovely conversation afterwords about how wonderful adoption is and all of the big feelings mentioned in the book… “Wow, they probably really needed a friend who understood. I could understand”. A child, adult and autism friendly read. Thank you, Emma!
