All of Me: My Extraordinary Life – The Most Recent Autobiography by Barbara Windsor
£2.80
THE HEART-WARMING AUTOBIOGRAPHY BY BARBARA WINDSOR CHRONICLING HER EARLY CHILDHOOD IN LONDON’S EAST END TO RECEIVING A DBE IN 2000
‘A whopping, no-holds-barred rollercoaster of a book’ Mail on Sunday
`Barbara Windsor emerges from these pages as a personality both strong and sunny’ Sunday Telegraph
Born in the East End of London just before the war, Barbara Windsor made her first stage appearance at the age of 13. From her early roles as the original Carry On dolly bird to her longest role as Peggy Mitchell in the award-winning BBC drama EastEnders, her spectacular success in theatre, film and TV has made her a British icon – the Cockney kid with a dazzling smile and talent to match.
Here, for the first time, she talks in depth about the people and events that have shaped her career: her lonely childhood, her doomed marriage to Ronnie Knight, her legendary affairs, how she never let her fans down whatever her personal anguish. This is the heart-warming story of a courageous woman and consummate performer who has always made sure the show goes on.
‘By living up to its title alone it makes a nonsense of every other showbiz bleat ‘n’ brag ever put to paper’ Julie Burchill
‘Infinitely more interesting than the sentimental schmaltz we have read about her before’ Lynn Barber, Daily Telegraph

Loved this book; so many ups and downs and an extremely honest book. Very well written. Would have liked to have seen some photos in the book, however but a great read.

I liked the amazing life that she lived. Some of the language was a bit below the belt. I would recomend this book to anybody who has a lot of time to read it, because there are a lot of chapters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this no holds barred book. Surprised at her promiscuity. She’s certainly had a full life!! Barbara is a much loved and much missed actress. I found out lots of facts I didn’t know about her and the famous (and infamous) people she mixed with. She has a good singing voice which I didn’t realise so downloaded the album she mentions in her book. We had one thing in common – both suffered from diverticulitis. I would recommend this book. Very entertaining. I’m about to start reading another book about her. I hope I enjoy it as much as I did this book. Great, versatile actress and entertainer. RIP Babs

This book shares details of a very eventful, full life. Barbara had a difficult start in life but more than proved she certainly had something special. A genuine British star!

Our dearest Babs! What a book!!! I really didn’t want to put it down. Such a lovely well told story with immense detail, explaining the life of Barbara Windsor. What a lady she was! If you didn’t love her before, you’ll love her now. My heart goes out to dear Scott, he played the most important role of all to babs. Her best friend, her soul mate, her partner in crime, her reason for being who she was. This is a remarkable book, and it really is in no other terms, All of her, with an extraordinary life! Rip Barbara what a lovely lady x

Whilst it was very interesting and mostly amusing reading about Barbara’s life, this book did get a bit repetitive and drawn out. And crikey the woman needed to get a grip with contraception.
