An Unconventional Mind
£2.80
At the core of this book is a hug when no willing hugger is around or a shoulder to cry on, when all shoulders are occupied. Pages of reassurance that say ‘yeah don’t worry, I’ve been there too’.
To some, just a retreat from all the uncertainty and turbulence that life holds…
uncertainty and turbulence that your mildly unconventional brain holds.
Or just a provider of entertainment, unaccompanied by the commitment that a regular storybook or biography requires.
Not dissimilar to a beloved teddy missing an eye and the majority of its stuffing or an expensive but ugly looking heirloom of a necklace, this book can be passed down through generations. Complete with your own annotations, doodles, cuttings and stickings, coffee stains, wine stains, tear stains and a sliver of your soul.
An assembly of hopeful anecdotes, reflections on life, nonsensical utterances, short stories, uplifting reminders that feel so deeply personal yet universally touching.
Interspersed between the philosophical thinking and thought-provoking advice pages are pockets of humour, recipes, chinchilla care tips, word-searches…
…a melange of enjoyable, bite-sized literature.

A quirky little book that meanders through the mind of the author, and probably through the minds of the readers, too.
Delightful little ditties and musings making you realise that whichever way you tackle life, your way is fine. If you want to do something ‘this’ way, that’s ok. If you want to do it ‘that’ way, that’s ok, too.
The humour stands out as if the author is actually talking to you, with a very grown up slant on life, despite the author being very so young.
It’s a sort of ‘jelly & custard’ version of Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret, but very much gentler and fabulously amusing.
I do hope that this new author continues with her ponderings and continues to share them with us.

This book has really surprised me! The author has managed to maintain a level humour throughout the book to keep you chuckling madly to yourself, whilst giving you an insight to a mind that is truly inspiring and so thought provoking, it makes you question everything you thought you knew about yourself.
It turns out we’re not as lost as we might have once believed we were!
It’s an excellent ‘pick me up’ after a crappy day or it’s the courage you need before you face a difficult one.
I really enjoyed reading it and will certainly keep it by my bed to read over and over again, when I need a bit of self-encouragement

This book is the witty ramblings of comfort, an uplifting, thought provoking insight into how we view and live our lives.
I wish I had read this book at the age the author is – 18. She has a great insight into how the human brain works and despite her ongoing health issues, she writes with such vision and clarity, with an injections of humour.
Can’t wait for the next one…

I defy anyone to not get something from this book. Beautifully written with honesty and humour, I devoured it in a day. No doubt I will revisit the pages as the book is designed to pick up and put down as the mood takes you. Full of wisdom, common sense and sound advice, far beyond the years of the author. I throughly enjoyed the quirky little book and hope there will be more to follow.

This is a book that you just cannot put down. You just want to carry on reading it! It is so real and down to earth. The author has obviously given a very good account of real life. It’s certainly entertaining, with lots of humour. So pleased that it is getting really good reviews.
