And Then You (Until Book 2)
£4.90
Here’s the thing: I am not—I repeat not—boyfriend material. I’m a good time for one night, and that’s it.
Figures I manage to get myself into a situation where I have to pretend to be in a relationship.
Ah, well. Not much else to do now than suck it up and get it over with.
I’m in. I’m out. I’m done.
But then Quinn says he’s curious.
He says I’m a liar.
He says he wants to see the real me.
Honestly, I can’t run away fast enough after that.
Because he doesn’t know.
Doesn’t know that I’m a landmine.
That he’s trudging so close.
That he’s about to step on me.
And then?
I’ll ruin him.

Absolutely loved this installment from Briar. Love that we saw the couple from the 1st book. Quinn is the guy we all hope.will come along, sweep us on our feet and put all the broken pieces back together

Briar Prescott always manages to write a story that has me gripped from start to end which I usually read in one sitting – this one was no different. From the tragic opening chapter to the HEA ending, this book had me hooked. Not because it was a suspense or a mystery, but because of how invested I felt in Steph finding and keeping someone that would make him their priority and look after him. I loved the slightly awkward and uptight Quinn, who had his own relationship hang ups due to being treated badly by an ex. Quinn’s family were great, and I loved seeing more of Steph’s found family – Jude and Blair. This was so much more than a “fake relationship” story – I wanted Steph’s story after we met him in Until You (book 1) and this didn’t disappoint – I just wanted to give him a hug for most of the book. I’m not sure if any more are planned in this series/world, but it’s pretty much a perfect duet, both 5/5 for me.

This book was sooo good! I loved the first in the series, ‘Until You’ and this one hit the exact same awesome vibe. We have damaged boys just trying to find love, along with their wonderful found-family of friends and honestly it was just amazing.
The story follows Stephen whose twin brother died in a freak accident when they were 15. Because of this, Stephen’s whole life is turned on its head and he puts on the persona of a fun-loving, idiot party-boy to try and keep his nightmares and guilt over his bother at bay.
Quinn is an ex-Olympic swimmer who struggles to let people in past the sarcastic and icy exterior. To try and prevent his siblings from setting him up on dates, he concocts a fake boyfriend, which works amazingly until he looks after a very drunk Stephen after a wedding and ends up having to introduce him to his parents…
Now ensues an AMAZING fake-dating, falling in love, ‘I would do anything for you’ and emotional healing journey for both guys. It was beautifully written and you really understood the pain that both characters were facing. If this author does one thing well (and lets face it, she does of things well in her writing) it’s a broken character healing. There is angst in this book but I’d say it’s not as angsty as the first book and everything is resolved really beautifully in the end.
I absolutely loved both books in this series and I’m super excited for the next (which she hasn’t announced yet, but I might have an inkling of who the next book might follow!!)
Thank you to the good people at Booksirens for the eARC!

Another great read from Briar Prescott. I enjoyed this so much, and was totally rooting for Steph. He really is a hot mess, and I loved him. This long awaited follow up to ‘Until You’, is not just well worth it, it’s one of those perfect books that you love, and won’t want to put down even when you’ve finished. Despite the tragic opening I found myself smiling throughout, Steph is so well written, l loved his humour and banter. Contrarily, the story is also incredibly emotional, and opens up a whole world of guilt and loss. It’s so beautifully written, it demonstrates how damage experienced in the past can be overcome, but will still leave its mark, the effects of grief on mental health are dealt with extremely sensitively. What happened to Steph all those years ago (no spoilers ), affected him badly. He found ways to cope, but he will always bear the scars. Quinn is a godsend, and really sees Steph, he sees beyond his mask, and falls totally in love with him. While parts of the story are heartbreaking, this is, like I said previously, offset by humour. I loved Steph’s friends, and how they helped to keep his spirits up. It was a bonus getting to meet Jude, Blake, Nora and Blair, from Until You,once again. I definitely recommend this book, but it will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride so keep the tissues handy. Also, I recommend that you read Until You, the first book in the series.

And Then You by Briar Prescott is the second book in the Until series. It is also the second book I read from this author. Until You mesmerized me and And Then You has captivated me.
And Then You is a rollercoaster of emotions, delivering a gripping narrative filled with humour, heart and undeniable chemistry. It’s the story of Steph and Quinn, initially presented as arch-enemies forced into a fake dating scenario. The first chapter is a gut-wrenching punch, setting the stage for Steph’s complex character, hiding behind a façade of chaos and wit. The banter between Steph and Quinn, uniquely captivating, with layers of tension and humour, reminded me of Henry and Alex in RWRB by Casey McQuiston.
Prescott knows how to write fully realized characters, and Steph’s chaotic yet endearing personality is a highlight. The dynamic between both MCs is filled with clever banter, genuine moments of vulnerability, and a gradual unravelling of their true selves. The story expertly weaves themes of trauma, love, and self-discovery, making it a compelling and emotional read.
The story skilfully navigates through the complexities of Steph’s past, creating a poignant exploration of loss and healing. The chemistry between Steph and Quinn is not just limited to witty exchanges but extends to moments of profound connection and intimacy. The book masterfully balances humour and emotion, providing a refreshing take on contemporary MM romance.
Prescott’s writing shines through in the detailed and intimate scenes, making the reader laugh, cry, and swoon in equal measure. The author’s ability to infuse depth into the characters adds layers to the story, making it more than a typical romance novel. The book is not just a love story but a journey of self-discovery, growth, and the enduring power of genuine connection.
I highly recommend it if you’re seeking a beautifully written and emotionally charged romance.
I received an ARC from BookSirens for free, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
