Really thorough and easy to use, with loads of practice exam questions and great tips for studying and exams. The only thing that stops me giving it 5 stars is that the chapters don’t always correspond exactly to the sub-topics of the syllabus (although all of the content is covered), and I would prefer that a lot more terms / definitions were in the glossary. These improvements would make it even easier to use.

I found this a very useful book with good explanations and useful exercises and questions to check knowledge as you work through the syllabus. I found some sections were rather too long & it would have been helpful if it had been clear when the information was as extension.

At first I was kind of skeptical because of the price but it’s worth it. As a stressed out broke A level student, it’s hard to find websites and books that are good and cover ALL of the content and really dumbs it down for you. Because I didn’t learn all of the content at GCSE, it’s really helpful that the book doesn’t throw me into the deep end. It is a very good investment.

This textbook is very detailed and provides really good coverage of the AQA a-level biology course, all information is clearly laid out with plenty of practice questions.
However, one of the chapters in the copy I received appeared to have some pages missing from the middle of it… When I looked further, these ‘missing pages’ had been put at the end of the chapter in the wrong place, and these pages were all ordered in reverse!
So overall: this book is very useful for studying a-level biology. It is definitely far too expensive, considering a large chunk of the pages in one chapter were completely muddled up and therefore difficult to follow. I would still recommend this book, but do check it through to make sure there are no missing pages!
