Get the scoop on bringing a Beagle home and raising him right

Beagles are an extraordinary breed―no bones about it. They’re cute, compact, fun-loving, and great with kids. (Not to mention those soulful eyes!) But their sense of humor, independence, and stubborn nature isn’t for everyone. So whether you’re thinking about getting your very own Snoopy-dog, or if you’ve already opened your heart and home to one, Beagles for Dummies answers important questions like:

  • What are Beagles supposed to look like and how should they behave?
  • Should I choose a puppy or an adult dog? Male or female?
  • How do I correct my Beagle’s behavior problems?
  • What do I need to do to survive my Beagle’s puppyhood?
  • How can I Beagle-proof my house to keep him (and my stuff) safe?
  • What should I teach my Beagle to do? How do I teach him?
  • What health problems is my Beagle likely to have when he’s young? How about when he grows up―or gets old?

Life with these little hounds can lead to years of merriment, entertainment, and love―but if you think Beagles are just another hound dog, think again! Whether you want to know everything there is to living with a Beagle, or just want to skip to a relevant subject (like how to keep him out of the hamper), Beagles for Dummies gives you everything you need to choose and raise your Snoopy soul mate.

The needed information seems to be all there. I own a good quantity of the for dummies series and this seems to be familiar to read.
I got my beagle as a puppy and this was meant to help me know the dog from the beggining. As the dog grows I will know how good the book turned out.

We got a 5 month old semi-trained beagle puppy and this book has been invaluable especially as it is specific to beagles. I started off reading it chapter by chapter, but now just dip into the relevant section as and when needed. Well written and easy to follow.

Great insight to the breed. However there are a few ‘opinions’ in the book that you may wish to ignore – no different to baby books – you need to do what is right for you and your puppy. Personally the idea of bringing a puppy into your bedroom at night is a crazy idea but others may chose to opt for this approach

Although now we have a beagle, it possibly should be called “Beagles are for Dummies”. They are crazy! but we love her. The book has a few weird points like saying you should brush beagles teeth twice a day…not so sure about that. But Overall a great book!

Found most of the content useful to read/know never having had a (beagle) puppy for a very long time.

Bought this book to give us an idea of how to help our 2 yr old rescue beagle settle into her new home. I’ve never had a dog before so I have found it very helpful. Just need to get her to read it now!

the real truth about beagles is that they’re not your average dog.even experienced dog owners are surprised by their complexity and charm. if you’ve never had one before( or if you know someone who’s got one and a sense of humour) this book is great.
it shows the funnier side of a wonderful breed,is really good at simply descriptions of their needs and is a great all round teaching aid for us beagle dummys.
    i highly recommend it.
