An NFL quarterback turned small-town coach gets sacked by a Texas beauty queen in this swoony, passionate romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills.

Gorgeous, talented, and brilliant, NFL quarterback Ronan Smith has the world in his hands. But after losing his career and his fiancée in a car accident, he falls into a pit of grief and bad choices. When a mysterious girl shows up to his party, he feels drawn to her and makes her his…for one night.

Former beauty queen Nova Morgan is on a mission. Scantily clad as a princess from a galaxy far, far away, she sneaks into a high-profile party to capture the attention of her favorite quarterback. But her hopes crash after an awful one-night stand.

Fast-forward two years. Broke and desperate, Nova returns home to Blue Belle, Texas, where, by a cosmic twist of fate, her broody neighbor is none other than Ronan, the shiny new football coach everyone adores. But he has no idea who she is.

The booster club keeps shoving women at Ronan to keep him in town. His solution? He proposes fake dating to Nova. But things heat up for real under these Friday-night lights when he realizes she’s the one who slipped away.

Has this jaded beauty found her forever baller, or will his past keep them apart?

Nova got her chance to sleep with Ronan and she took it. Ronan couldnt resist the beautiful blonde dressed in a Princess Lia costume and it helped him forget the woman he had loved and lost in their car accident. Something good came out of that night because he got his act together and stopped drinking every night. Years later he got a job at a college as a coach and found out his next door neighbour was Nova. She was full of sunshine but he was determined to keep away as this job was to be a stepping stone for bigger things. She was back home because her mother had died and she had a young sister to take care of. She also had her own demons when she came face to face with the guy she thought she would marry only to find he had cheated on her. Nova and Ronan pretended to be together to get Andrew away from her and Madison away from him. It brought them closer together though and that was a big problem for Ronan because he didnt want to care for her.

Beautiful. Your writing was great. Loved all your characters. Such a sweet, easy read that flowed and didn’t drag at all, which is refreshing.

I have had this on my tbr list for a while and i am so glad i finally read it! I loved it from page one!
Ronan is the perfect book boyfriend and perfect for Nova. They met at a party several years ago but their spark was always there.

My favourite phrase from the book…

‘A person can want something at one point in their life, then want something entirely different later, especially after they’ve realised whats important’

I highly recommend this book.. download straight away and get reading you wont regret it ❤️

I really enjoyed this book. I was really invested in Nova and Ronan, Sabine, Toby and all the other characters. It has an uplifting ending which left me smiling.
I found the vaping, celebrity name dropping and Sonia’s penchant for using English slang cringey, but easily ignored in favour of good writing, a solid storyline and great character development. This is a book I will definitely read again

I found ‘Beauty and the Baller’ to be a really good, really warm and refreshing feel good romance.

This book is a small town romance that had me engaged and invested from beginning to end. Nova returns to her home town to look after her sister and immediately meets Ronan, her new neighbour and huge mistake one-night stand. Ronan now coaches the local high school football team, and is trying to mend his broken heart after an unbearable tragedy. From here a lovely story unfolds.

I loved the world this author has created. The two main characters had alot of chemistry together, they were likeable, engaging and believable. This book also had some great secondary characters who really added to the feel of the story.

I highly recommend to lovers of contemporary sports romance novels.

Nova comes home after the death of her mother to the hometown she thought she would never live in again, but her sister needs her. She discovers her new neighbour Ronan is someone she had a disastrous night with about 2 years before. She thinks he is an arrogant and full of himself and that he doesn’t remember her. I wasn’t a big fan of how they originally met. He takes a while to realise who she is and decides she might just be the perfect person to play his fake girlfriend to try to get the locals to stop throwing women at him in an effort to make him stay. Nova has history in her hometown and is happy to go along with the fake relationship for her own reasons, but is a little wary after their past experience together. Everyone knows that Ronan doesn’t plan to stay forever, but the more time they spend together the closer (and more scared) they both become. I liked how feisty they were together and loved how caring Nova was and how conflicted Ronan was. I liked both their interactions with the kids at the school where they both work and Nova’s connection with her sister. I also liked that it was available with read and listen.
