This is an interesting book with some useful chapters but it doesn’t really break things down far enough for a beginner. It doesn’t tell you things like what each part of a hive is and how it’s supposed to work and everything is mostly from an American prospective. In hindsight I should have probably purchased Beekeeping For Dummies (UK Edition) which is a few years older.

A very good, comprehensive book which leaves no questions unanswered.

This is a good book but mostly from an American view point.

I bought this as a present for my husband who is just about to get his first hive. He is finding it really useful and explaining it in an easy to read way

I live in the UK. Have joined a local beekeeping association. Now have a beehive in the garden, which is managed by a member of the local beekeeping group. It is fascinating to learn by seeing how the hive is managed, observing the bees and learning from the beekeeper about the bees and management. I purchased Beekeeping for Dummies prior to joining the group and having a hive sited in the garden. The book is informative. However, it seems there is a variety of ways in which beekeepers manage their hives. It would have been better for me to have purchased a book from a beekeeper who was writing from a stance of living in the UK. Nonetheless, it is apparent when reading the book that the author is well versed in the subject. The book is an interesting read.
