A retrospective of Daniel Craig’s five James Bond films as 007, Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall, SPECTRE, No Time To Die.

Daniel Craig began his tenure as James Bond in 2006 with Casino Royale, the long-awaited film adaptation of Ian Fleming’s 007 origin story. The most successful Bond film of all time on release (it would subsequently be eclipsed by Skyfall), Craig was credited with reinvigorating the franchise and went on to appear in four more Bond films: Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall, SPECTRE and No Time To Die.

This lavish coffee table hardback takes readers behind the scenes of Daniel Craig’s five films as James Bond, revealing the stories behind the making of the films, with exclusive on-set photography, concept art, costume designs, stunt breakdowns and more, accompanied by cast and crew interviews.

This book is much more than an on-set photographic record of Daniel Craig’s tenure as James Bond. Yes it’s beautifully illustrated but it also contains cast/ crew interviews, a plot synopsis for each film and Salisbury gives a well-researched account of the background and reception for each of Craig’s 5 films. I loved it and can’t recommend it highly enough.

A comprehensive overview of Daniel Craig’s phenomenal tenure as James Bond and an insight into the man himself. From Casino Royale to No Time To Die we get the whole story of one man’s journey-both the character and the actor-and the utter determination to make his portrayal the most believable and real of any of the past actors to play the part, while remaining true to Ian Fleming’s creation. It’s a riveting read, entertaining throughout with contributions from actors, producers and even stuntmen and it gave my arms quite a workout while i read it over a week.Daniel Craig comes across as such an ordinary,down-to-earth person it’s hard to believe that he could play a ruthless, brutal Government-Sanctioned assassin with such ease, although judging by his injuries his quest for realism sometimes got the better of him-which just proves his commitment to the role.
He even suggested killing him off at the first film’s premiere…and 15 years later he got his wish granted. It’s all there in this book which is a must have for any fan of Mr.Craig’s interpretation of the damage, both physical and mental that being 007 really means(no invisible cars for him)and he’s going to be an almost impossible act to follow.
Whoever takes on the role-because “James Bond Will Return” it would be a nice touch if the opening sequence involved all the surviving Bond actors as the guard of honour at his funeral, while the next 007 is already in operation…Just a suggestion for the production team.
Thanks,Daniel, for renewing this Bond fan’s enthusiasm for the character and the films.

I cannot for the life of me work out why anyone should want to write a study of the overrated Daniel Craig Bond era. Five generic action films featuring an uncharismatic leading man, uninspired plots, and woeful theme songs. Mr.Salisbury seems quite a decent author, so why he has written this is hard to fathom. A book on the Sean Connery films would be far more interesting. As for the invisible car in ‘Die Another Day’, it was the creation of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who wrote the Craig Bonds. I agree totally with Harry Hart ( Colin Firth ) of the Kingsman movies when he said: “Modern spy films are too serious for my taste. But the old ones…marvellous!”.

Bought this, as I was a big fan of the Daniel Craig Bond era, coming after the dismal Pierce Brosnan movies. Unfortunately a lot of the photos presented most 007 fans would have seen before. And those photos shown are not that high quality! There’s a scattering of original shots, but not enough. Text is ok, but again nothing really new. Cant really recommend this book. Expected more from it.
