Ben Gives Up His Dummy: The book that makes children want to move on from dummies!

£6.60£7.60 (-13%)

This picture book is designed to help children who are struggling to give up their dummies. Children love it because it’s a great story with fun illustrations, and parents love it because it enables children to kick their dummy habit once and for all.

This book ALSO tackles the days following the departure of the dummies, so parents don’t have to worry about a child missing their dummies once they’ve gone.

The book follows the story of a little boy called Ben, who refuses to give up his dummy. Then one night his mother persuades him to leave all his dummies outside her room for the ‘Dummy Fairy’ to take – (in exchange for a special gift). Ben gets to meet the fairy, who shows him that it IS possible to give up dummies without shedding a single tear.

After reading, children can follow the story at home by collecting up their dummies and leaving them outside their bedroom at night. Parents can then ensure that the ‘Dummy Fairy’ takes them off to Fairyland, leaving a special gift in their place!

The book also includes some fun ideas to help stop children missing the dummies, in the days after they’ve gone.

“After hearing this story three times, my son asked if he could put his dummies out for the Dummy Fairy to take to Fairyland. Once they’d gone he didn’t miss them one bit!” – Lucy Jones

Reviews and praise for Bea Gives Up Her Dummy

“There is no other book quite like this. When reading it to my own dummy dependent daughter, she was swept away by the magic of the fairies. Thanks to this lovely book she knows the dummy fairy will be visiting imminently and is prepared for it.” JN2 Magazine

“Bea Gives Up Her Dummy is an enchanting tale featuring magical illustrations. The book acts as a step-by-step preparation for giving up dummies.” The Ham and High

Really disappointed in this story was hoping it would to into giving up dummy and maybe a dummy fairy taking it away so something we can promise him will happen…what we got was a ridiculous story of things that won’t happen when he gives up his dummy…the fairy tells him give up your dummy and imagine any food and I will magic that taste into your mouth?! Shame, not what i was expecting at all and it’s outdated telling a kid they’re teeth will stick out if they don’t give up a dummy

I was a bit sceptical about this book, but honestly after reading it every evening for about 3 weeks and changing the name Ben to my son’s name while reading he handed me his dummy and 4 nights on he has not asked for it. He will be 3 in November and he only used his dummy at night and naps but now we are dummy free. It took him a bit longer to fall asleep first night, next evening he didn’t asked for it and in the morning he was so made up when he got a big dinosaur toy to remind him that he gave away his dummy to dummy fairy. The best money I ever spent on book. No crying, no tantrums over the dummy. Very happy mummy and daddy. 🙂

This book has been a great help. Read it for 2 weeks at bed time. Once the gift had arrived we put the dummy where the book suggested and once asleep it was replaced with the gift.
It has been 2 weeks now and the dummy is a thing of the past. He really did love a dummy, but it’s gone without a fuss.

I don’t usually bother with reviews but I wish someone else had written about this so I could have avoided it entirely. I had to skip this page. I was so shocked to see this. For a start, dummies do not cause misaligned teeth (unless they were to be used beyond the milk teeth stage). How is ok to tell children it is bad to have such teeth, which are actually usually genetic and very common. Children should NEVER be exposed to negative connotations about the way they or others look. Very disappointed.

I loved this book so much and it actually worked to get my little boy off his dummy completely. Going 3 weeks strong now and stopped asking for the dummy after 2 weeks

Our 3 year old really enjoyed this book, so much that after the 2nd time of reading he also wanted to give his dummy to the dummy fairy…….but bottle out. We persevered and carried on reading, we had a couple more failed attempts at giving his dummies up, we got as far as putting them all in an envelope but they slowly came back out. He eventually gave them up but only after we gave up reading the book and in his own time. Could work for other children but didn’t for us.

We bought this and just added to our sons book case. He took and interest in it when he was ready and we read it for about 3 nights in a row and he announced he was ready to get rid of his dummy for the “dummy fairy” and he did. He was 4 at the time and we thought at this age getting rid of the dummy would be very difficult but this worked for us.
