This is our Blue Planet: a beautiful blue marble suspended in a sea of stars.
Unlike billions of other worlds in the Milky Way, 71 per cent of our Blue Planet is covered by ocean. It’s home to the greatest diversity of life on Earth but is our least explored habitat; we’ve better maps of Mars than of the ocean floor.
With so much more to discover, take a deep breath . . . and dive into a wondrous world beneath the waves.
Explore coral reefs that shimmer in a kaleidoscope of colours.
Venture to the bottom of the ocean where creatures beyond your wildest imagination live in the dark.
Chase sea otters through kelp forest seas, and glide the open ocean with humpback whales.
Discover all there is to love about our Blue Planet, the stories of its inhabitants, and realise how you can help protect this wilderness beneath the waves.
In collaboration with BBC Earth, this illustrated non-fiction book will capture the wonder, beauty, and emotion of the iconic BBC Blue Planet II TV series.

Bought this for a 7 year old daughter of a friend, whose first language is not English. I was not expecting the whole book to be illustrated, and so was surprised to see that the book does not actually include any of the stunning images from the documentary.
The predominant blues of the pages could have had a bit more colour to them.(Yes, I realize it is about the oceans and it is bound to be mostly blue)

Watching David Attenborough documentaries is a staple in our family. We particularly loved Blue Planet II because of our daughter’s fascination with fish and the ocean. So, when I heard that Penguin were producing a book for children on the series, I was giddy with excitement. But never could I have imagined just how incredible this book would be.
Leisa has woven quirky facts with exceptional story-telling that takes this book to another level. We adore the entire book, but our favourite parts were definitely the “stories” pages. Leisa’s playful language makes the book a joy to read. My daughter particularly liked the Stories from the Coral Reefs, and learning about the green turtles. One of the things that made the Blue Planet II TV series so brilliant was the incredible camera work. Emily’s illustrations have absolutely done the TV series justice – we were in awe of her beautiful, vibrant artwork throughout the book. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys learning about life in our planet’s oceans.
